coating with butter slid them down well for my sister's Thomas and half a tablet in half a king prawn never failed with our Smokey.

Cream cheese has never worked with Max, he just licks all the cheese off and leaves a gooey tablet on your finger

If Swampy likes biscuity treats, the Defurrum treats can work as you can break them in half and pop the tablet into the gooey centre which disguises it quite well, dependent of course on the size of the tablet!

Morning Kate,Swampy and family :hi:

Hope you all had a decent nights sleep and are ready to face another day,its lovely and sunny here and lets hope it will continue :shify:

btw regarding the pill thing, have you tried disguising it in dairylea?  Helen(tiggys mum) swears by it and I am coming round to it myself as it does work,we call them dairylea blob time in this household :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Hope Swamp has a good day and please lookafter yourself also Kate, its equally as important for you to have some "me" time

thanks and hope you all have a good night and an even better tomorrow. Please let the rain stop too - it was dark at 5 here today
Swampy pouched his 1/3rd steroid (I cut a wee bit off a 1/2 to see if he was still ok on a lower dose, as he walked in fairly straight lines today), having hopefully swallowed the whole pill dose first, spat it into his k/d where I spotted it (not in a very good condition as you can imagine) and shoved it back down him. Hope it will be ok, I'd already lost one pill with him making it an unidentifiable gooey pulp. I've tried putting it in nicer tasting food but he still manages to swallow the nice stuff and gob out the steroid. He's been such a sweet love tonight, all purrs. Now fast asleep with Max. He usually wakes up just as I want to try to get a few hours, then settles, then wakes up for real at some horrendous hour. Now that he is blind, he doesn't notice that it's still dark I suppose.

lots of love and big furry purrs from London too  :blow kiss:  (we need some more hug emoticons) xx

little Swampy decided meal time was at 3.30am, 4.30am and 6am and has only now gone to sleep........he found the tray and kitchen by himself but has been mega agitated so am keeping an eye on him, as the 2 previous mega agitated days led to problems. I hope it's just the steroids, although he hasn't done this the previous nights. It's almost fortekor and yet more nosh time now and I will wake him (mum's revenge).
He and Max are now curled up and I just may join them for a bit as it's been quite a morning (loo leaking etc etc etc).
lots of love and purrs to everyone

I agree, our Schui has steroids and has renal failure well he's had 1 for other complaints but can have them regularly although not ideal but at his age quality rather than quantity we say.

he still walked in a straight line and found the tray and water bowl (7.45pm) and has only just had his steroids, so maybe it's just a good day. If the increased dose means life's like this more often, we tend to think that's better than a longer life but with more distressing circling anyhow....one day as it comes as wise Paddy's mum tells me xx  I must keep my notes legible however!
hope everyone has a peaceful night.

All meds have a different time to be effective in the body and presumably at the begiining and end of the cycle there is a drop off of effectiveness.

Lots of snuggles to Swampy

does it say why?

I don't think so. Maybe when the body is processing food etc, it is more effective? - no idea really.

oh, ok thanks

Swampy has fortekor (1/2 dose) at 10 am because he has to have zentonil earlier and I don't give them together. Then he has vivitonin 1/4 tab at around 4 - 4.30pm and his steroids at 7.30pm.
He's curled up with Max in the igloo today so will see how he is when he wakes up soon and has to get to the tray. There are various possibilities for why the mornings (including yes, his own body clock mechanisms) have been better lately than the afternoon or evening and the meds is the first place to start I suppose.

he was so sleepy at lunchtime, so I took him out of the igloo and he sat like a baby on my lap and had his plate of k/d - unbelievably sweet.   from us.

Just a thought. When do you give Swampy his Fortekor?

I have seen morning recommended on quite a few sites. Clapton has his in the evening. I don't know if there is a better time?

I have no idea at all about cats but the human metabolic rate is usually higher in the morning than the evening.  Maybe it's something to do with that?
