Off he went for another little wander this afternoon, but got into the passage and turned back. He found it unsettling and was a lot more confident coming back than venturing out. But then he demanded (and got of course) a mega tum rub so we had a good 20 mins of purring. Made me ridiculously happy.

Makes me ridiculously happy to hear it too!   :wow: :wow:     Brave little soldja.  :)

Count me in!  How brave Swampy is.

Kate, I know it had a different cause, but we were warned to expect further fits when Paddy had his stroke.  Happily, they didn't happen.   With the quantity of positive thoughts, love and healing wishes coming Swampy's way, as Christine (Blip's mum) has said to me recently "let it be well....."

Topping up the gentle kisses and tummy rubs for Swampy.  xxx

Oh that is just wonderful!  How brave of Swampy to venture into the passage.  That is such a good sign.

You get some good rest tonight, you deserve it. :Luv2:

I went out for an hour and found him sleeping on my return. I'm so anxious to leave him though; the vet doesn't think he'll have another fit (although gave me a syringe of 1ml valium to use rectally on him if he does) but on a yahoo kitty seizure group they aren't so sure, although are reassuring about his chances of surviving it. Let's hope the vet is 100% right on this one.
I could use some shut eye tonight so hope it's peaceful. And to all of you!

Sounds like a much better night.  I'm so glad that Swampy has shown some signs of improvement.  I know each day will get better and better from here on out.  You have done an amazing job taking care of him.  I know it has been such a worry.

A big morning  to everyone and their puddytats. We had a slightly better night. Max is being very sweet to Swampy which I really hope lasts, as he needs his brother to be there (they sleep with their chins on each other) or gets upset. Swampy had a little wander down the passage at 6am without banging into anything, but stopped before he got to the bathroom as was nervous, but I've tested again and still no visual response. Thanks for the messybeast link as that's really helpful. I am going to venture out this morning for a walk and pop to the shops and feed downstair's lonely canary  - probably an hour - so it's take a deep breath and hope and pray he will just sleep while I am out as I'm so scared leaving him alone.
I ordered a fan diffuser and some oils, but now I read that oils can be dangerous, so will probably put it on for 15 mins with a drop of Olbas as the vet thinks that will be ok, as Swampy's cold is starting up again.

you are all so wonderful and thanks for your support

Have been thinking about you both so much.  Glad you were able to speak to the vet.  I think we can all understand how isolated you've been feeling trying to cope with all of this on your own.  I wish there was some way we could wave a magic wand and make it all better for Swampy overnight.  Still sending healing vibes and lots of love for both of you.

I am so glad you finally spoke to your vet.  Giving you some sort of timescale for improvement saves you worrying too much right now.  Hopefully Swampy will have a restful day and night and each day brings him further on.  Big hug to you my thoughts and prayers are with you both

Oh that sounds so much better, when you are left alone and feel a bit floundery it's just so hard, and even if nothing practical changes you just can't beat a bit of reassurance and feeling that the vet knows everything there is to know and everything that can be done is being done....

Well he did call and gave me nearly 20 mins so now I feel a lot better. He doesn't need to see Swamp as long as he is peeing at all, but doesn't quite know why it's changed. Swampy will have to have blood tests done soon but he thinks for the mo' it's better I keep him at home in the 1 room. The black eyes are because he is blind - in another week we should be able to notice if any of his vision has returned (there is a small chance). Anyhow his Swampness has just had a bit of lunch and I'll keep adding the water. I told the vet that sometimes I need to speak to him, not via the nurse, especially after what's happened and he said he does understand and apologised , saying he's had a mad week.
Ahem, I don't think any London vets do home visits btw! At least Swampy's getting a lot better treatment than I would have, if I'd had the same accident.
I just hope tonight Swamp feels like having a peaceful zzzz   to everyone.

Popping in to check in his progress, I agree with the others, if only the vet could be more supportive it would be such a weight off your mind as well.

I agree with Maddies Mum they should be doing a home visit.  How far is the vet from you?  If its quite near I would go down to the vet (minus Swampy) and ask to speak to them face to face.  Its harder for them to fob you off in person.     to you both x

To be honest I think it is appalling that you are receiving little or no support from your vet.  I would insist on a home visit to save Swampy the stress and if they wont do it then change vets.  Swampy's well being is the foremost consideration not whether or not the vet is too busy to speak to you.  I don't mean that you aren't putting his welfare first, you are doing so well and you should be receiving support from your vet.  This is a huge thing that has happened and he appears to be just leaving you to sort it out yourself.

had a tricky night with no sleep for either of us. He just wouldn't settle. Big black eyes and moving constantly and some miaowing. He also just isn't using the tray much if at all, but did have a mega drink earlier. So I rang the vet, usual fob off about how busy he is and to bring Swampy down this morning before the ops start if worried. So I said no, putting him in a carrier and bringing him down IF it's not necessary (vet to be the judge of that) is going to make him worse and please could I actually speak to the vet as it's a week now and I've not spoken to anyone but the nurse since it happened and this just isn't easy to cope. I would like him to see Swampy before the weekend to check on him, but am so scared to put him in the box and take him (unless urgent of course). Being so tired doesn't help either. Swamps has eaten ok this morning but his tum is hard. Can brain damage shut down the urge to go to the tray?

ps what I mean is, he is peeing but it's 2x in 24 hours instead of 4 or 5 times and no tray flooders. He has CRF

Take care and hope you both have a restful night ( i stayed up nearly a wekk with Smartie when i found out he had a heart condition , was scared to go to sleep in case he stopped breathing !- then still got up every hour after that for another week and to check he hadn''t pulled his stitches out from his op !!) Luckily he seems to be ok now.
