no more puke on mum no (Max had the decency to deposit his RC dry on the carpet!), but Swamp is very miaowy and unsettled this morning, looking around him to sort of say WHY can't I see and wandering and miaowing a lot. Another grot grey day so hope I can settle him down for a sleep soon.  everyone from all of us.

You can't get the one I have any more. If I was buying one I would buy this one and use only one of the two elements. It has 'cool touch housing'.

morning all you lovely vibes people. I woke at 3.30 in the night so they thought it might be fun to wake up too, plus Swamp threw up some phlegm all over me at 5am which was just 'great', but otherwise Swampy ate ok this morning (I'll read up on those other foods just in case - many thanks - also for Max as Hills have gone and changed HIS food yet again and he no like) and had his wander up the stairs again and is now planning (I hope) a nice long peaceful zzzz with Max.....sun's looking a bit dodgy today but maybe some later. Love and burmese choccy purrs to everyone

PS thanks for the halogen heater post too, typed while I was posting this. How close can you/they get to it if it's halogen (assume gets v hot)?

A radiant halogrn heater is more like an old fashioned electric fire than anything else but much more efficient and nicer. No flicker.

There are other kidney foods on VetUK, Rosie liked the Integra despite hating RC, and it is like a pate type food. Some of the Porta 21 foods are low phos too.

many thanks for the ideas on the weighing him in his carrier and the lamps (they sound just the ticket for me!). The only thing is I have to be careful with any bright, artificial light with Swamp. Do you know which lamps would be the least invasive (eg we don't have any fluorescent tube lights but they're not allowed and I must be careful with camera flash apparently too, in case it triggers any seizures).

Swampy's not eating as much the last couple of days but is ok, despite Max jumping down from the infamous chest of drawers and landing ON him as he lay sleeping on the bed and knocking him to the floor  - I was right next to him reading, but didn't have time to react. I am pretty much 90% sure that Max knocked him off the chest originally. Anyhow he started breathing hard but I managed to calm him down quite quickly. A nervy moment as you can imagine. I'm hoping Swamps doesn't go off k/d as not sure what low phosphorus wet food I can give him. But k/d goes hard after 10 mins exposed to air so he gets tired eating it as a plate can take him 15 - 20 mins now.

What a big brave boy .... the infra light lamp sounds like a good idea or maybe you could try a light box (the sort of thing used by SAD sufferers).

Ebay is the best place for them:  http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=light+box+sad

My cat Willow (RIP) loved lying in the sunlight. When Willow was very old she loved my radiant halogen heater in the winter. These give a lovely glow as well as radiant heat and basking in the light and heat helped her get through her last two winters. I do wonder if Swampy would appreciate one.

As for weighing them, I bought this digital luggage scales to weigh my cats. http://www.lakeland.co.uk/digital-luggage-scale/F/keyword/scales/product/21561  As it has a large maximum weight, you can weigh them in a basket, then take off the weigh of the basket.

Swampa had a bit of a dip yesterday evening (no eating, no purrs, lying uncomfortably for a couple of hours) but seemed to feel better after being thoroughly washed by Max (Max never used to wash him, other way around -interesting how this has changed the pecking order?). He had a lovely time in the sun yesterday. He got on to and off the bed all by himself twice and sunbathing on the agenda again today. This morning he woke up early and took about 3 hours to finish his breakfast but then found the stairs again and went up....and down!!....all by himself. So sweet and brave he is, watching him coming down, he put one paw out, felt then moved sloooowly. The only thing is is that he's convinced (I think) it's always sunny and he is being denied it by being shut in the lounge and if he could get through the door, it would be sunny on the bed next door! When this good weather ends, he won't approve at all! Vet suggested I get him an infra-red lamp?!!!! That sounds like something I could use as well  ;D
He and Max are separated during the sunny hours now as Max has gone up on to the chest (where the accident started) to zzzz as it's the sunniest spot in the flat by far.
Lots of love and sunny purrs to everyone too   many thanks again. I get such a boost from the messages & I'm sure it's helping the Wampa too xx

hello, well the boys really approve of the sun (not alone there!). Only thing is OH is a bit too ambitious for him (Swampy loves being around OH as he's not home much) and there's no way I will go out and leave Swamps unattended in the sun on a bed, in case anything happens or he falls off. But it's so lovely to hear that dark brown purr. He does seem brighter in the warmer weather and is off on a wander as I type, which is at least partly due to the fact that better weather = not so bad cold. They got me up nice and early this morning  :innocent: so here's hoping we can all have a relax - and to all of you too. Sure everyone and their furbabes are enjoying the (autumn but better late than never) sunshine
He *may* go outside on the roof on his harness for 10mins if I think he's up for it later on.
