I've left a message with the nurse again. Although he slept until 5, Swampy's not good this morning. I have to know if there's anything they can do or if there is no hope. Swamps has eaten a little and is now finally asleep, but was very agitated and had to be helped to his tray and water bowl and sometimes ignored them, sometimes not. I am sure that he had some sudden, further brain episode on saturday morning (as as you all know he was making good progress for a whole month) but the vet didn't treat it so now it's preying on my mind that it could be too late. Anyhow the nurse mentioned what someone on a 'seizures group' on yahoo mentioned that maybe he needs another anti inflammatory. When Swampy's calm and lying down you'd think he was fine. Just when he gets up he just keeps the little circles and distress, fast leading to exhaustion and stumbling from dizziness (all the turning in circles: he walks straight to start with).  If there's something we can do we must do it. I think he should have been seen on saturday but anyhow. If there's nothing, we must try to take a calm decision as currently this is no quality of life for Swampy.
I'm going to rest now and will post again later.

Vet wanted to see him so I've insisted on a home visit. It's better anyhow (never mind the travel) that he sees him at home and how he walks. He may give him steroids and an antibiotic to see if it helps. Please send prayers and vibes that it does. I think the visit will be late morning or early afternoon.

I gave him some lactulose as he's clearly uncomfortable in his tum. Must the the iron in the Kaminox. The last time he was put on iron medicine when he was borderline anaemic (probably still is) he also got a hard sore tum and we had to stop the medicine. I gave him 1.5mls but he spat some. I will repeat tonight if nothing happens as he's eaten a lot less and has no enthusiasm for food. Obviously we need to know if that's just from a slightly blocked tum (he went this morning, but only a little bit, given what he ate yesterday ie a lot) or if it's from his brain.
He did get on to the futon earlier and had a purr, which was lovely. So many thanks for all the prayers and positive vibes and please keep them coming for Swamp

Does the lactulose usually give him the runs?  If not I would give it to him as he will be uncomfortable and a solid poo is easy enough to clear up if he doesn't find the tray.

I do hope the circling stops as it is distressing for him and you.

God bless you Swampy

Oh Kate, Sorry theres no improvement.
I think you will have to give him some lactulose as he will be very uncomfortable if he is bunged up and that could effect his eating.

You are doing a wonderful job, if he could get better on love alone he would be fighting fit

Sending Swampy a huge kiss ......

no change I'm afraid. He is now constipated and I'm nervous to give him lactulose as he can't find the tray on his own. He got up quite a few times in the night and had to be rescued as he starts out with a bigger circle then soon gets stressed and starts the small circles as he has forgotten all that he learned over the last month and has lost his bearings. But he did get a bit of rest. I'm keeping him in the igloo. I must work out how much water to give as brought the water bowl to him in the night and he had quite a drink. We have the heating on now and I suppose the dry air means he may need a bit more water. See how it goes, just trying to get some rest and keep him comfy today.  to everyone. Oops he's got up again so must go and see to him

thanks a million for all the wonderful support messages, that means such a lot. The tonic he's on has improved his appetite today and he ate well, all in his igloo bed. He doesn't want to move from that so I'm trying to work out how much water to try to syringe down him. (not easy as he hates it but he's not drinking, I'm adding a teaspoon water to his food too). Must still take him out to see if he wants to pee but have put a puppy pad under his vetbed in the igloo. He can walk, just doesn't want to and I don't think he could find his tray or water bowl anyhow. It is so weird as he has purred a bit, licked Max and eaten and his coat is good but he's so weak and circling when he tries to walk.
Don't know how much sleep I'll get but I'm praying and hoping so hard that he pulls through and is better soon, or at least goes back to how he was yesterday.

kocka used to walk in circles after we moved here and she had detached retinas so kept going blind and also suspect it was dementia related, possibly neuro.

I got him out of his igloo after a long sleep and his medicine and food (he's eaten not far off a can today) and gently guided him to his tray, as he wasn't showing any inclination to move at all and I thought he must need to pee.
He did use the tray but then just kept walking in that area in left hand circles, really small ones. I really had to use both hands to stop him moving in left circles on the way back too. I put him back in the igloo now although Max has got in as well so it's a tight squeeze, but I'm not moving Max out as think he can be of comfort. No purrs. He didn't cry but his confusion is distressing him (not just me). I think as he doesn't know where he is anyhow that I will move the igloo near the futon tonight and see if he will spend the night in it if I put a hottie in.

the bio washing powder's helped the smell, many thanks. He's in his igloo bed and has just had a little food and the heating is on and he has a hottie. It's when he gets up we will see how he's feeling. The stuff he's been given may help and I so hope so. it's amino acids, iron and vit B i think. The weird thing is that his coat's so shiny, you wouldn;t think he was so ill.  It's neuro obviously. I won't and can't lose hope. This could just be a temporary thing and that's what I'm praying for. I"m going to give him water in an hour or so and guide him to the tray. Max is upset and has taken himself off, he did that when Swampy started his manic circling. I am sure they know.
