Good deals on microchip scanners?

The makers of the pocketreader never did get back to me so I now have my broken one + Isobel's broken one - the screen has gone on hers too so no good for spare parts for mine.

Did you order the protective cases for the readers as they are supposed to protect them if they are dropped + probably help stop water getting in them.

Just to let you know that we ordered 2 of these and all reports of them being abit dodgy in the past, well they are fine  now. They have designed it better and actually fosterers find them easier to use due to the weight and they pointed bit.. So good buy!

ISO is a quality mark - it means the company that carries it has to reach certain standards and undergo a yearly checkup.

It reads FDX A & B, FECAVA and Trovan - the sure if this is all the ones available?

Can all the scanners read the ISO chips used here in the UK?

All 'ISO' (Interntional Standards Organisation) scanners can read the FDX-B chip which is the one used in the UK.   FDX-A chips were phased out some years ago but there are still many animals still alive with the 'A' chip, so it is very important to check with the retailer of the scanner, and ask if it will read both A and B.  Most scanners do, but not all.  The term used is 'backwards compatible'.

You need the scanner that can read both types. If i were buying i would spend that bit more to make sure any foreign chips are also read

Our branch needs to buy another chip scanner. I realise they are around 100 quid but what do the ISO thingmejigs mean. I have seen pet detect sell one that is 100 quid and one 85 or so plus vat, one is universal and another claims to read everything. Most of CP stuff comes from MD exports etc but they are not always the cheapest.

Anybody know of some good makes and prices pls and what the ISO means in relation to us and the use of.
