welcome to my world!  ;D  Mosi is nearly 3 and I can count on one hand the number of undisturbed nights I've had.  He just doesn't do sleeping in long stretches.  The only time I have a chance of an unbroken nights sleep is is when I go to bed about 1am and set the alarm for no later than 7am which is not a good nights sleep in my book.  And even then there's a good chance he'll want me up at 4am.  I have 2 ways with dealing with it - a) I put them both out in the living room and shut the door.  He does shut up pretty quickly then but I think by doing that (and giving a treat) I'm rewarding his behaviour, - b) ignore him.  When I ignore him he does settle down again (as does Jaffa who is a good boy but is woken by Mosi too) although it may take a while and it doesn't seem to stop him doing it again the next day.

He is getting better though, and he is waking me up really early less often.  I've forgotten what it feels like to get a good night's sleep every night.  It's worse than having a baby in the house   Good job I love the little monkey.  When he's got bored of running around and making a noise he tends to climb into bed and snuggle up to me at which point I cuddle him and tell him what a good boy he is  :Luv:

One of my cats always comes up and paws me in the face from about 5am onwards - if I pay no attention to that, he then sits on my face - really nice, cat bum in your face!!  My other cat leaves me alone until I want to get up.   :fish:

I wouldn't swop Jake either, although I would love another cat.  He believes in one cat per household and this is HIS house.

Having previously had four cats who did everything described.  Jake my current black monster has no such inclinations.  He follows me everywhere but only to lie at my feet or, if he feels inclined, sits back to back with me on my computer chair, I end up perched at the xtreme edge.  Bed time consists of lying back to back as well.  He doesn't purr, rarely meows, occasionally maws when hungry other than that, he is so quiet you could easily forget he's there.

I don't see an emoticon for being jealous...  so I'll use this one instead...  >:(

I wouldn't swap my moggies for anything, but one night of continuous sleep would still be nice... :evillaugh:

Alas, Dinah's habits were well ingrained by the time she came to us!  If we try to shut her out of the bedroom she scratches furiously at the door and yowls in a piteous fashion...for hours.

Her worst habit is sitting just close enough that her whiskers tickle my face, and then the second I move starts "mrrrp" ing, headbutting me and then patting my face if I try to go back to sleep.  Like Ducha she also pats my face to get me to move so she can sleep on the warm spot on the pillow...

Another trick is to walk up my ribs and miaow in my ear, and pat my ear.  When she was going through a bad spell of this (starting at 5.00am) I tried wearing ear plugs - she managed to hook one out with a claw before miaowing really loudly!  I swear she knew!

The Proot used to just stand on me and start dribbling, which was incredibly effective at moving your hooman!

Yep, I'm working the Supernanny stylee discipline with Dave. He's a persistent little beeger though so so far not having great success, still have to move him about 50 times before he leaves me be and even then it's only for a couple hours and he's straight back again.

Who needs a full nights sleep anyway  :tired:

Supernanny style - I'll give it a try. Perhaps I'll create a naughty step

Nobo is only 10 or 11 months old, so perhaps it can work. I should be thankful that Izzy is too scared to come and wake me, but I wish she would as then she wouldn't be hiding under the bed all the time.

I used to have problems with Riley waking me up at silly 'o' clock, Lukey has always been an absolute angel and lays on the bed until he sees my eyes open at which point he'll come over for a cuddle  :)

Riley was a nightmare waking me up and trying to get at my face all night long.  I don't know if it would work with an adult cat as he was a kitten when I did it but I taught him supernanny style!  Everytime he tried to get my face (by 'get' I mean lay on, paw at, snuggle/rub against with his head, purr ridiculously loudy right by my head) I picked him up and placed him at the bottom of the bed whilst firmly saying No.  The first night I must have done this about 80 times before he finally got the message.  The next night was quite bad too but he eventually got the message and now is as good as gold.

I also use an  automatic feeder for their breakfast so now they don't wake me up at all - even when I've forgot to set it!

Oh I can sympathise with everyone and anyone woken up by their moggies!

I've had Nobo two weeks now and Izzy one week. Nobo wakes up around 3.55am each night, then 5am then 6am. He wants to play "grab the toe"! Over the last two weeks, my friends and family have said..."goodness Lyndsey, you look terrible/tired etc". Great morale booster.

I've tried ignoring Nobo, pulling him to sleep with me and even shutting him out of the bedroom. The latter results in the carpet in the hall getting ripped and he yowls and yowls until I give in. Then he wants to "play" with Izzy, who's still terrified of him as she's a wee timid thing. This results in paws at dawn. Arghghghghghh.

Any advice??

I'm so  :censored: tired!

Dont cuddle him or pay any attention, if you dont acknowledge him he will get bored with it. Iv had this with lola and its taken a few weeks of ignoring her and its finally taking affect. I hope  :shify:
She also had a stage of catching her straw and yowling at the door with it  :tired:

We tried to ban them from the bedroom and had more sleepless nights due to them taunting Sky in his crate and him barking cause he was upset having been mauled by one of the mob!

We have a Super kingsize bed and sleep with about 10 or more most nights but we seem to have them trained Monday to Friday we get up at 05.45am to deal with them - inject Tiger the diabetic boy and give extra meal to him and Sweetie without the others around,  litter boxes, breakfast - each one gets an individual saucer delivered by me on weekdays and Robin at the weekends, then bowl topping up - in the interim deal with dogs, feed fish, water tomato plants, eat human breakfast, shower then off to work all by 07.30am!

At the weekends we get to sleep till about 9 unless Peanut and Brodie won't settle back down or more if there is no food left - they hjave 18 double bowls and somehow can be like a swarm of locusts through the night having not touched it in the evening!

I do however add that there comes a point when you are completely immune to head walking, duvet diving and claws in face it comes around as you are just knackered!

Also have had a bad night, well the last 2 or was it 3.......sigh

Ducha is picking the smallest place he can find near my head and collapsing down in it and the pawing my hair and generally rubbing and pushing, ok so I move he can have that bit. Then he moves into the small space on the otherside and does it all again, every time I move , he is moving too and I got fur in my eyes, up my nose, in my mouth and the pillows itching me.

He is being a right little monster all night at the moment ......and his bro is trying to get under my arms as I am typing...........just because I lived reverse time for two weeks, I think they are punishing me!

Oh and to top it all, he's nicely curled up fast asleep now, looking all content with himself

Go and make a 'maw, maw, maw' noise in his ear and poke him  :evillaugh:

That is exactly what I did when I woke up in a daze to the alarm  :evillaugh:. He just looked at me as if to say "what the.... you think I'm waking up now??!!!" and gave a really big yawn

They're usually really good though, so I'm not sure if it's something outside waking him up. And yes he's nicely curled up asleep in his bed again now, wheras I am rushing round trying to get some jobs done before driving 3 hours to my cousins wedding (not that I'm sat here on Purrs or anything though  :shify:   :evillaugh:) I'm glad it's not just me though!

This is why my OH is insistant that no cats sleep in the bedroom with us. I must admit on the couple of occasions he has given in, I am a heavy enough sleeper to sleep through all teh feline attention seeking but Brad has not had any sleep at all! I am now starting to understand why he has this rule! lol

I'm feeling everyone's pain at the moment.

My two have chosen the middle of the night to have their "sorting out the hierarchy" fights and Chilli will insist on growling and hissing the whole time, at least Dave does it quietly!

The once they've exhausted themselves it's time for Dave to come and lie on my head while kneading my neck and head with claws, persistently, no matter how much I try to stop him.

Finally we will all be asleep when about 6.30am (thus ruining my last hours sleep) Dave again needs some attention and he will do all that is necessary to get it. Kneading again, rubbing my face, soggy nose in my eyes and ears, biting my hand if it dares flinch so I hide it but he goes looking for it, dragging a selection of toys onto the bed to pay with.............................

I was looking very youthful up until a couple weeks ago, looking distinctly tired now.  :(

Yeap, normal in my house too I'm afriad, Max doens't understand the concept of hoomans needing sleep, so most mornings I get woken up around 4am with him wanting to play, then doing everything he can to get my attention, mainly trying to pull my trainers out of the wardrobe and play with the laces  :tired:

Its how I feel all the time. Lexy is in her trapeze artist mode of late. This morning at 4am she was using my back as a launch pad to get to the headboard. She could have used any one of the many pillows on the bed, but my back was the best solid bouncy thing. She did it about 4 times before I got annoyed and shushed her. That worked of course... she reverted to pawing my head. :tired:

For the past couple of nights Fergus has been waking me up at exactly 5.28am. Last night it was 3 and of course once I was awake I couldn't get back to sleep until, surprisingly about 20 mins before the alarm went off  >:(. He jumps on the bed right next to my face and starts making his funny meowing noise "maw maw maw" so I give him a cuddle and tell him to lie down and go to sleep, but no off he jumps still "maw maw maw-ing". He then starts scratching at the carpet, goes and jumps on Polly and wakes her up, chases her up and down the stairs, plays with his rattley mousey, noisely uses his litter tray and scratches on his tree. Then up he comes again "maw maw maw". At this point I got up, picked him up, gave him a cuddle, told him he was being a naughty boy and to go back to bed and we can play in the morning. I went into the bathroom only to come out and find him hanging off the banisters, scrambling up and then walking along like a tight rope walker! So yes anyway, managed to get back to sleep eventually, but I now feel exhausted. My eyes have that Christmas day feeling from when you were younger and hardly got any sleep. Oh and to top it all, he's nicely curled up fast asleep now, looking all content with himself
