Oh dear, poor Summer, at least it is nothing serious.  I think cat grass is meant to be safer but no doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong???

Thanks Gillian and Des.  Just had a call from the vet.  They have removed three blades of grass from Summers nose!  Ouch!!

Poor little thing but so pleased its nothing more serious.  Now I have the problem of stopping her eating grass.    :-:  Any ideas??

Just waiting for her to recover a bit from the anastetic and I'm off to pick her up  :Luv2: :Luv2:

Smartie and Skye have been searching the house for her today.  Smartie even jumped into Summer's bed for a quick kip!  Cheeky or what.  :evillaugh:

Summer has been back to the vet today.  Vet says her lungs now sound clear but she is still coughing and sneezing (and lots of snot coming from her left nostril ).  She is booked to go in for an exploratory op on Tuesday as the vet thinks she may have a polyp or a foreign body (poss a piece of grass) up her nose or in her throat.   :'( :'(

Bit of an update on Summer.  Last night she came and lay beside me in her usual place on the settee while I was watching telly and she stayed cuddled up most of the night.  Took her upstairs with us when we went to bed and left the other two downstairs to give her some peace and quiet.  She slept in our bedroom and didn't cough very much at all.  Hubby gave her the antibiotics this morning (I don't like giving her them because she doesn't like them) and she has eaten, drank and used the litter tray.  Offered her salmon, eggs, tuna, chicken but no she chose to have some wet cat food!

Other two seem fine, they keep going to see how she is.  She is lying in her bed beside the radiator at the minute, hubby insisted that we needed to put the heating on for her!  He's been great, especially when I had a few tears last night because I am so worried about her.  He loves them all but has a real soft spot for "dumpling" as he calls her.

If she has free access she could easily meet a stray cat who is ill and catch it from them  :(

Hope she perks up soon

Hope the meds work ok and summer is soon feeling much better.  Also hope the other two don't catch anything.

Well we are back from the vet.  Arrived fifteen minutes early as I was really worried about her.    :scared: :scared:

Vet says that she has very rattly lungs and it could be either cat flu or asthma - thinks more like cat flu because she started sneezing while I was there and it was snotty (sorry).  She has given me a course of antibiotics for her and I have to take her back next week.  Worried now about the other two - they have all been vacinated against it, but still worried.  Only way she could have caught it would be from going into my neighbours garden two down who I found out yesterday has just got a new (rescue I think) cat!  Any advice would be very welcome x x   :thanks:

It could just be a few hairs tickling her throat.  Sometimes Mosi has a wheezy sounding cough when he's furballing.  fingers crossed the vet trip goes off smoothly tomorrow

Thanks Gillian and Ruth.  Dreading the vets tomorrow.  She hates going but luckily its first thing and takes literally two minutes to get there.  Hope it is just from the furball but really worried in case it something else.

Lexy often gets a bit wheezy after delivering an impressive furball, but for your own peace of mind have her looked at

She started coughing late yesterday afternoon but while I was on the phone to the vet she delivered a huge furball at my feet (much to the amusement of the vet nurse).  She stopped coughing so vet nurse cancelled the appointment and said to keep an eye on her and call back if she started again.  She started again about five to six so called back and she is at the vet at 9.00am tomorrow morning.  She also sounds a bit wheezy.  Any ideas what it could be?    She doesn't seem herself at all.  :( :(

It could just be the after effects of coughing up the furball, but you are right to get her checked over anyway. My Sam was coughing before he was diagnosed with HCM, and for a while I thought the coughing was to do with furballs. In his case it wasnt, but hopefully thats all it is with Summer.
