Great news!!! You should probably try to keep her indoors for a few days until she has a chance to realise the new one is not that much of a threat ...

Turns out I was right about the strop! My friend came to help me post the flyers and as he was walking up the street to my place who should pop out to say hello? So she is now back, safe and sound, very hungry but still stroppy.

At least I have her back though. :Luv2:

Don't worry, I'm not offended at all.

I have now made the leaflets and they will be distributed when I go door knocking later today.

She sure has gone the right way about making me feel guilty for getting another cat! Stroppy girls eh, hehe.

Sorry, but I had to ask. You've be surprised the amount of time people then turn round and say "But I didn't think they could have babies so young!"  :tired:  ;)

Awww, she's lovely. Sometimes cats do sulk spectacularly at new introductions, but I'd definitely start the search after three days.

Best of luck in finding her. Just goes to show you never really own a cat.  :innocent:

Thanks for the replies so far guys! Will do some flyers at work tomorrow.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't over-reacting.

Wasn't during the storms, she came screaming in soaked to the bone that night! Maybe another storm would be helpful to know if she is just sulking locally somewhere. The search shall begin in earnest tomorrow.

Did you suffer from the storms this week and would that be around the time your little girl went AWOL?

Definately get your posters and leaflets out ... there is a chance she may actually be trapped in someones shed (Tuesday was lovely and warm if I remember rightly so the "gardeners" were out in force).

God luck and fingers crossed she will be back home soon.

You say that she spent a lot of time out of the house before you got the kitten so maybe she is close by, but put out at the new addition to the household. She may be residing one of your neighbours houses, sulking and acting abandoned whilst being fed and given a comfy spot to while away the hours!   ;)

I would start knocking on some doors and making some enquiries as to her whereabouts since three days is a long enough time for her to reappear. There is some really useful advice on finding a missing cat here:

I hope she reappears again soon.  :waiting:

I would definitely start searching actively by now. If you are close to where you were before, try going back to that area. Otherwise, posters and doorknocking are definitely on the cards ... Good luck with your search ...

New kitten, "original" cat has now disappeared
« Reply #1 on: August 01, 2008, 19:05:45 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am hoping I don't have too much to be worried about but as the hours tick by I can't help it!

I have a little girl who is just past the year mark. She grew up in two households with other cats, both male, she loved the other cats and spent lots of time with them. We then moved to our own place and she seemed a bit lonely, choosing to spend lots of time out. So I have got another kitten, a week ago now, a little boy. I fully expected there to be a settling period and wasn't expecting any miracles or love at first sight.

Initially she she seemed a bit jealous and grumpy but nothing more, was still coming home to eat and growl at the new family member. During this time I gave her lots of love. On Tuesday they both stayed in for the evening, albeit her being very disgruntled. Early hours of the morning she asked to go out and so I let her. I now haven't seen her since, I call for her regularly and while I am home there is always a door open (which is no different to normal).

So it is day 3 and still no sign, I'm hoping she is just cooling off and will re-appear when she is really hungry. Should I worry yet or give it at least a week till I start knocking on doors? She is also chipped so if she was found I would be contacted.

Help and advise please!
