The lead isnt attached at the side. It moves around a little as the cat moves. When walking, the lead is at the top of the harness above the cat.

In the photos its at the side because I am sitting down with Elle.

To stop tangling when walking, you hold the leash so the lead stays above the cat. You will get moments when the cat does something to cause the lead to go under their legs, but thats the way cats are. You just have to be on guard really. If the harness is adjusted correctly, then the cat wont be able to put their legs through (or at least I hope not).

Elle took to the leash from day one, but some cats wont like it. In those cases I guess take it slow. Put the harness on and let them get used to it at home for a while. The harness should be worn as Elle is wearing it or the cat may escape.

Oh dear, is that how you put on the harness?  the vertical straps(to the cat's body, would be horizontal to the ground)  on the flanks and lead attached from the side? 

I just started training on my cat, and I put that straps one over the back and one under the chest (between forelegs).  He wears it calmly enough but it always go askew as he moves and never remain straight, looking rather silly.... I may try your way but I am afraid the lead may get tangled up with his long legs, and it is much more accessible to his mounth... (he likes to try to turn around and chew on the lead!)  Do you have any advices on that front?

Yes she would.

She has been on my ward a few times being stroked by patients.

She has the perfect temperament for going on a leash.

She sits on my lap in the car when i'm driving purring away.

She is very well behaved on the leash and loves it.

My other 4 cats don't have the right temperament to do this so Im lucky with Elle.

I love it when other people see her and see how beautiful she is.

I do get funny looks, but I dont care.

Its nice to be different. Everyone else was walking a dog.

A woman was on the phone walking past and I heard her saying

"there's all sorts going on here at the moment. There's even a man walking a cat".

Took Elle one of my seal colourpoint Ragdolls to the local park.

To be honest we both ended up laying in the sun and not doing much walkies.

Was really nice though.
