Dont know if its any use but there is a city farm in Nottingham, (St Annes) and also one here in East Leake that has a petting area for children.

www.stonebridgecityfarm.com

Stonebridge Rd
Nottingham, NG3 2FR
0115 950 5113

and the East Leake one is   Manor Farm Animal Centre & Donkey Sanctuary
www.manorfarmanimalcentre.co.uk

Castle Hill
East Leake, Loughborough, LE12 6LU

Just in case either of these is nearer than London way.

Hope it helps.

Good idea Big Paws ...  I have to say the Farm at East Leake is really good and if I was a farm animal looking for a new home I think I would love to go and live there :)

Any good? I know we aren't supposed to put links on to ads, but figured this might be OK for now.

i was there today! there has been a lot of investment in the park and the animal areas are really lovely.  they had a whole bunch of new rabbits there today - i saw two pygmy goats too, sleeping in the shade - as were the deer!  it was so hot.

I loved Clissold park - I used to work right opposite it.

That gave me another idea - there are plenty of City Parks around. There is one in Hackney Road.
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

in London there is a park called Clissold Park - they have deer, rabbits, sheep, chickens and they also have some Pygmy Goats, maybe someone could contact them and ask if they want another one?  there seems to be plenty of room for another one!  the park is in the London Borough of Hackney.

I love pygmy goats. I was on an animal care course years ago and the place I studied at had two - utterly lovely.

  • Where are we supposed to sleep, then?
Poor mite!  :'(

A word of appeal to these people might also be a good idea. Perhaps they have a member willing to take Betty on?  :shy:

Heart-rending Appeal for 'Betty' the Pigmy Goat

SWAP team UK have been sent this very sad appeal (see below) from Jon at Brinsley Animal Rescue in Nottingham (UK) for dear little 'Betty' a gorgeous Pigmy Goat.

Betty has recently lost her lifelong companion 'Belinda' (also a Pigmy Goat) who has now sadly died leaving dear sweet Betty heartbroken and pining for her beloved friend.

Jon is looking :
EITHER to re-home Betty in a place that has other Pigmy goats to keep Betty company
OR to take on another goat as a companion for Betty.

If you can help to mend Betty's broken heart please contact Jon asap at info@brinsleyanimalrescue.org or phone 0845 458 2813 or 07906 166002

In March this year we took in 2 Pigmy Goats `Betty and Belinda'. These two girls were rescued from a garden centre that had them for eight years and no longer wanted them and they were off to slaughter.

At Brinsley Animal Rescue they had a great life and free run of a 4 acres of field, just what they needed to burn off the fat they had accumulated from being fed inappropriate food at the garden centre.

Unfortunately yesterday we were devastated when Belinda died having been rushed to the vets, we believe that she suffered a heart attack. We believe that Betty and Belinda have been together all their lives as they were inseparable and so Betty is now pining and constantly looking for her companion.

We would love to either re-home Betty where she will have other company with Pigmy goats or to take on another goat ourselves.

If you feel you can help in anyway, please email or phone.

Thanks Jon and Beth
