He's been done, no stitches and he's healed up fine.  The other kitten is poorly so i can't get him done yet, he indested something toxic apparently.  I don't know what it could have been  because i try to watch them.  He's been on a drip and has medication etc but he's very quiet and when he's been laying down for a while he gets up and he's done a poo  :-: It's as if he doesn't realise he did one, he's done this a few times, he doesn't even squat  :scared:  He's eating and drinking but doesn't seem to have put weight on...He has a check up tomorrow so i'll mention it to the vet.  Will he be ok???

Hi Michelle,

Kittens "suckling" on a male litter mates genitalia is not entirely uncommon among cats that have not had a sufficient time with the queen. I had bottle babies last year, and one of the males was suckled on so severely that his little organs built up scar tissue, the prepuce swelled shut, he wasn't able to urinate properly and he had to have a major surgery at  about 4 or 5 weeks of age. That's just an FYI, because your cats are older and I'm assuming the one that is pounced on and licked, etc. is urinating ok.

It does seem like dominance behavior, hopefully the neuter will calm the little fella down, but it can take up to a month for the testosterone to leave his system.

Michelle - siblings sucking on teats etc can be unpleasant for the sibling being sucked on, so it should be discouraged.

I didnt say anything LOL

My vets said that those chips dont work very well so they dont use them.

I would go for ordinary chip and thats best be done at same time they are neutered like you plan.

Good luck for tomorrow  ;D

could it leak or anything, I

I expect that some people feel that the content of those chips is not beneficial to a pet and could cause problems. We chip cats but will not use the duel purpose ones.

There is a pet thermometer that can be used in the ear, I think they are about £100 ish each I keep meaning to get some of the fosters one but never get round to it.

Some vets are not too happy to use the chips that are in planted to take the temperature, due the the content of the chip.

I agree.

I dont think i like the sound of it to be honest.

They are double the price though

That is not fair as although the actual chip is double the price, it costs no more for the vet to inplant it and do the paperwork. So an additional charge of say £5 would more than cover the extra charge of the chip.

Oh i want to get him microchipped at the same time, is it better getting him chipped with the temperature  included?

Er ?
Sorry you have lost me there lol

You can get chips that have the cats temperature recorded rather then the vet stick a thermom up his bum  :-:

Well i didnt know that !!

I wouldn't have thought its anything to worry about, as other people have said its just him becoming sexually aware!

If you could bring Op forward it would help but even after being done it does take a while for the testosterone to die down.

When Mouse's brother ChubChub was alive, Mouse used to try and suckle on ChubChub's teets, he'd be there for ages until Chubbys belly was drenched and all wrinckly

I think I would be inclined to bring the neutering date forward, it does sound like the little one had matured.

If they are both male, it is prob a dominance thing, but you could ring your vet and see if they think it shoudl be brought forward - the only worrying thing is the licking really.

I'll phone them today and explain what is happening, thanks  :scared:

have they been neutered? If not maybe you should speak to your vet and see if they are old enough.

It's booked for the 12 Feb, does this mean i should try to get it done earlier???? I don't know where to put my face when kids look at me  :-[

My kittens are nearly 5 months old, one of them keeps on trying to mate with his brother  :scared:

He bites his neck, locks him and then humps him (well tries)... :-[  He has him in grasp for a good few minutes  :-:

Forgot to say, they are booked for neuturing on 12 Feb, do i need to see if they can bring the date forward?  He also keeps licking his brothers bits...how can i keep them from doing it in the meantime  :scared:
