Keeping older indoor cats active

My parents dropped it off yesterday so he should still have it. Actually it may have been Tuesday - not sure.

I bought the Undercover mouse but my boys weren't interested at all. They looked at it, looked at me then walked off never to return! I tried it quite a few times but it was a definite no goer. I've just given it to Lost Cats of Brighton for their car boot sale. Hopefully they can raise a few quid from it or keep their rescues entertained.

Oooh how long ago was that? I'd much rather give the money to charity! I'll pm Ron

Undercover mouse keeps Charlie busy for ages but I would not leave him unsupervised with it as the wand does come off as does the cover sometimes.

TBH I'm too worried about cost as I figure keeping him active will mean he lives longer and leaner and therefore is worth it but on the other hand there's no point shelling out unless it's a good attention keeper!

Snag is while we are at work we don't see if they are playng with things we have left them or just cat napping!!  The latter knowing them. 

My Bonnie is 10 and I've had a 26 yr old and 14 yrs old but they were both outdoor cats.  Bonnie is an indoor cat and her ping pong ball always seems to be in a different place when I come home from work and one of her many mice.

Maybe a cat post with strings and pompom things on, Im sure I have seen the likes on ebay.

My 13 yo seems to be going through a youthful phase and playing with string toys and balls. It's great and I want to keep it up but has anyone got any ideas for keeping him entertained whilst I'm at work?

I'm thinking of some kind of electric mousey-chasey game on a timer.
