If they are eating the clay it would be good to give them wood or corn based litter. Clay can cause a blockage and has chemicals in it

lol thanks Helen. I've had great fun with them today.....until I left and turned the light off. All I can hear now are little pitiful cries from Bella....constantly. And to make matters worse they keep choking on the cat litter which is making me a nervous wreck!! doesn't look like I'm gonna get much sleep tonight!

I look and frontline spot on from VetUK and is says it can be used on kitten ages 8 weeks and above (must be above 1kg) in weight. The santuary think they are 9 weeks old on Saturday so do you think these will be ok?

Frontline spray or stronghold kitten (this does round worm too) both from your vet, once they are abit bigger frontline spot on would be ok.

Avoid bob martin, sherleys and johnsons products.

no they were vet checked and wormed when i got them...they aren't flea'd though so I need to find a flea treatment suitable for 2 month old kittens.

The vet I took them to was the same one the sanctuary uses and when i mentioned about the insurance she said she'd obviously missed the murmer when they were checked over last week and i should ring petplan up to see if I'm covered from the moment I signed....then technically it wouldn't be a previous illness since she's just spotted it AFTER I'd signed.

Looks like I'm going to have one insured with pet plan and the other with AXA lol.

If the heart murmer disappears when she's had her vacs (the vet said it probably will) if it returns in her senior years do you think it will be classed as a 'new' illness and be covered, anyone experienced this? Technically she not recieved treatment for the heart murmer is only been noticed.

If they dont like the litter they will let you know!  Petplan cover notes start from when you sign so they would cover any problems, AXA might exclude anything to do with it, but as Lesley said they can grow out of them

Just brought out some food, and I've never seen them move to fast. They must have been starving. They have now gone straight back to sleep in a cardboard box now teehee! Now that they have eaten loads I'm waiting for the inevitable. Will they find the litter themselves or should I be showing them? They have already jumped in and had a sniff but this litter in dusty grey and ash like and I don't think it's the same as the wooden pelletes they are used to

So cute, yes don't worry too much about the murmur - Poppy had one when we first got her and its got better and better as she has got older.

Dont worry too much Hun, my little persian Bina had a heart murmer all her life and never had any problems, she never had to have any medical treatment for it and live to 15 when she went to the bridge due to PKD.

Don't worry, slight heart murmurs can show at this age but then they can grow out of them, wait and see what happens at the next visit - it may not be apparent then.    Izzy and Bella.

Well the kittens arrived this morning! woo!! they are now called Izzy & Bella. They are still a little shy, hiding in their carrier mainly although i tempted Izzy out with some kitty milk.

It's only been 3 hours and already I'm having a bit of a mare! When I took them from the santuary the lady gave me 6 weeks free pet plan insurance for them both. I then took them both to the vets for a kitten check where it was found that Izzy has a slight heart murmer. I'm now worried that this won't be covered under her insurance and that I won't be able to change her over to AXA since it will be an 'existing illness' what a mare!! At least they seem happy tho lol
