I've got a real soft spot for these two beautiful boys

As for the teeth, the boys had double teeth until one day the double set was no longer there. They used to chew the tear off strips from Bozita cartons and there were tiny spots of blood on there but other than that the teeth just disappeared

I did find a front fang and put it 'somewhere safe' - unfortunately I have no idea where that was and I've since moved and the tooth didn't appear!

As for being frightened of visitors, as they don't go outside their world is you and OH so when new people are introduced into their environment ie your house they're bound to be scared. My boys are the same, if it's someone they don't know they are very wary and will often hide, if it's someone they've met a few times they are normally fine with them after a few minutes and if it's someone they know well they are just their normal selves with them.

does anyone have any thoughts on kitten's deciduous (baby) teeth, will i see them come out? what age? cleaning?

i know that in humans baby teeth are effectively pushed out by the adult teeth and roots are resorbed naturally, that is why you see children's teeth without roots when they fall they are just the crown of the tooth, is this what kitten's teeth will be like?

i am sure that i should already know this quite ashamed that i do not.

for those of you who have been following the boy's progress over the months...they are doing really well and really coming in to their own, i think they are very happy and contented and everyone who meets them falls in love with them, but they are mine all mine!!!!

but they are really freaked out when there is more than 2 people i the house they are fine with me and OH but add an extra couple of people and they are petrified and i feel awful for putting them in the situation. any tips?

I've just been reading your story and I feel for you. It sounds like a difficult time in your life right now and you need to take one day at a time. Easier said than done I guess.

well they are enjoying the new food which is comforting. we are enjoying lots lovely cuddles on the sofa all the time now i am so pleased, i evencriedthis evening whilst stroking them and them snuggling into me.

well they are neither a or b so nevermind...maybe on their birthday!!!! they certainly loved the tuna, was gone in 2 seconds, they have had a run of the house for the whole day today and for the first time today they have been brave enough to jump on the sofa for cuddles and walk accross the lap top and press keys, so helpful!

i can't believe how muh i love them xxx

Cats dont need bathing unless they are a) covered in something yucky like oil or b) have coats that need it eg. persians

Tuna, i compared tuna in oil, brine and spring water and they all had the same salt content!

its easily addictive so as a small treat its ok but not a regular thing

Go on you know you want to ... start em young and get them used to it.

It's best to do it on a nice warm day so they don't get cold. .... Word of warning though DO NOT laugh at them however much you will be tempted when you see them trotting round flicking their back feet and looking like skinny little rats. They will never forgive you if you laugh!

Re: the tuna ... as long as it's not in brine they can have it as an occasional treat no problem.

Re: Bathing ... yes you can bathe them but it shouldn't be done too often as it washes all the natural oils out of their coat. I tend to bath my lot about twice a year when they start moulting hair everywhere and brushing just doesn't seem to be working. You need to make sure you are well prepared. I have found it's a good idea to make sure both kittens are in the bathroom (door locked). Lay a large towel on the floor. make sure you have the top off the shampoo before you start. run the bath and have enough water in it that your little ones can stand up and the water comes upto their tummies ... warm water ... NOT hot and NOT cold. pick you little one up and place in the bath (facing away from you) hold them by the scruff of the neck (it's easier to control them this way) then off you go. Make sure you rinse all the shampoo off them well then lift out plonk on the towel wrap up and give a good rub. One down one to go.

I have found using a shower is a recipe for disaster as cats really DO NOT like showers but I have never had a problem washing any cat (even some really fiesty toms) in the way I described above.

can i give the kittens tuna from a tin? i only eat tinned tuna with spring water so there it is not in brine of oil.

i gave them some chicken and they loved it and i had cod the other day and gave them a tiny bit and they seemed to enjoy it, not even upset tummies.

also just a quickie, can i bath them? cause i have seen cat shampoo in the shops but have no idea if i should bath them. they are not dirty just though they might benefit from a good wash i always think their paws seem dirty i do try and wipe their paws with a damp cloth and i do brush them every night before bed.

what do you think?

The problem lies in old cat poop (over 24hours old) so regular removal and good hygiene is the way to go. Gardening also exposes you but no one ever blames that, always the cats! In terms of cats suffocating babies, a cot net will save the worry

Hope your sister doesnt get talked out of keeping her cat, many midwives, doctors and health vistors are anti cat and have allsorts of myths to tell people

Tess came back from the dog groomers yesterday - looking very lovely and smelling rather nice. So we thought. She just made Paddy sneeze, and he kept looking at her with a kind of horrified disgust!

Gosh, you can see changes in them already! See they still like the culinary delights of your kitchen - wine rack, plate rack, spice rack.......

With regard to your sister, are you thinking in terms of risk during her pregnancy? I think that provided scrupulous hygiene is followed, wearing rubber gloves when changing the litter and having a good scrub afterwards, maybe with some spirit gel or antbacterial should be sufficient but I'm sure there'll be others on here with direct experience who can answer this for you.

Hi everyone

Floss & Tepe send kisses to all of you.

Do any of you know if there is a thred on here about pregnancy (women not cats) and soiled cat litter, my sister is pregnant and has a cat.

I hope everyone's furbabies are ok, F&T are fab, real cuties and really coming in to their own, OH and i were sat on the kitchen floor with them on Saturday night and floss was on my lap and tepe on OH's lap, tepe and i fell asleep and OH said that floss stared at me the whole time, didn't take his eyes off me, OH said it was like he was watching over me...bless my little boy's (&OH of course).
