If he came down so quickly with the illness, the rescue was probably totally unaware he was harbouring anything.  I hope he makes it bless him and I hope he will still have a home with you if he pulls through.  Have you heard any more from the rescue or how he is?

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

oh how awful for you - you must be gutted. Do follow up with the rescue and see what the problem was, so you can understand the implications in terms of possible contamination you may have to address in your home before you introduce another cat.

 sorry to hear this. I'm sure he'll recover! You must be gutted - but don't let it put you off adopting another kitty!

So sorry to hear about this - I hope poor Mr Tinks pulls through, and that you find a different route to adoption / catmommyhood soon - no one should be catless for long  In the meantime feel free to borrow all the fluffies on purrs - they are always on the lookout for someone to hug.

:(  :( Poor Mr Tinks fell ill last night and we had to rush him back to the rescue for treatment.

I dont really want to say much as i know this is a public forum, but i was told last night by the person that runs the 'rescue' that 4 other cats had come down with sickness that day  :(

To say i'm gutted is an understatement (and equally very angry i was allowed to take a possibly sick cat home), Mr T went downhill very rapidly and we believed the best thing (and right thing by George) was to return him. I dont hold out much hope he'll make it to be honest, and i'm unclear on the situation in the rescue at the moment.

I cant say i'm inclined to adopt another pet from there, so for the time being were going to be cat-less  :(
