Thank you so much everyone :thanks:
I really appreciate the reassurance and support :) The vet was a bit puzzled - his nose is no longer producing free-flowing mucus, but one nostril looks swollen, and he's sneezing now. He didn't seem to have a temperature, but they gave him an injection to fight off any underlying infection. The only thing she could think of was that he might have something up his nose, but as he's an indoor boy the usual grass / plant seeds are unlikely. Thankfully he doesn't seem poorly (apart from the nose thing) and is eating fine, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. He's in again on wednesday to see how he's getting on, but if a "foreign object" is likely, he might have to be referred to a specialist in Edinburgh (unless an x-ray shows something, which she said would be unlikely) - thank god we have insurance, but hopefully it won't come to that!
Maybe it is just a touch of the sniffles, and he'll get over it soon.

Cats can get colds as well as cat flu. It could just be a cold, but it never hurts to check.

As cat flu is a virus the ABs treat the secondary infection not the bug itself. Much like a human cold

My oldest tom gets that sporadically. He's prone to colds; actually just today I blew his nose. (Yep, I make him blow his nose - he's way too handsome for snot bubbles!) Generally from what I can tell the cats immune system fights mild colds off itself, but there are antibiotics that can be used if it lingers.

- I'm just having a bit of a mild panic - even though he's fully vaccinated, all I can think is "cat flu, cat flu!" :scared:

Sadly being vaccinated doesnt stop them from getting cat flu because there are so many strains of it and quiet often vacccinated cats can get a mild form of cat flu.
Hope all goes well at vets tomorrow

Riley has recently been a bit poorly after coming back somewhat stressed from a cattery stay just over a week ago. He was off his food and vomiting, but has been on antibiotics for about a week and seemed completely fine. However, this morning I noticed he had a very snotty nose, mostly on one side - when sniffing it sounded very gurgly, and he was spraying a lovely fine rain of snot-drops everywhere, and blowing pretty little snot-bubbles. He isn't sneezing, and is otherwise pretty bright-eyed and normal. He's an indoor cat, so I don't think he has anything stuck up there (but I guess you never know). He's booked into the vet first thing tomorrow, so hopefully it will be nothing - I'm just having a bit of a mild panic - even though he's fully vaccinated, all I can think is "cat flu, cat flu!" :scared:
Hav any other furbabes had random, otherwise symptomless nose-mucus?
