That annoyed me as well, she loved him so much and that was why he was getting the boot  >:(

Because she couldn't POSSIBLY put a net over her babys pram now could she?!

Rosella, I agree entirely. Sounds like a case of the baby substitute situation to me, but I could be wrong.

If I'm honest, I'm not sure about the Rainbow Bridge but if it's true, it would be lovely and sometimes the bridge and the thought of meeting our furbabes again is what keeps people going.  When Sean had to put his dog to sleep, I sent him the animated version of the Rainbow Bridge and it has helped him.  People deal with grief in all sorts of ways and the way they deal with it is personal to them and people shouldn't be knocked for it.

The way she bleated on about how much she loved her cat (kitten more like; only 1 year old) really annoyed me. The young ginger will certainly be better off in another home.

The initial poster was wrong to think that she could seek advice on how to rehome without expecting advice as to whether she needed to rehome in the first place.  It's all very well being lovey dovey and sweet when discussing an animal in your care but it's a great deal more important to do your utmost to really CARE for it when you take it on in which respect life means life in my book. Hurrumph!  The way she bleated on about how much she loved her cat (kitten more like; only 1 year old) really annoyed me. The young ginger will certainly be better off in another home.

The chap was illinformed, rude, unkind and opinionated.

I mostly try to stay out of these types of discussions. Guess you all know why now  :evillaugh:

Everyone has their own way of dealing with grief and nobody has a right to tell someone what they should or shouldn't believe in. He was a complete prat and CC is well rid of people like him. He was quite happy with the advice he got a week or so ago! Like I said on my post on there no one should get an animal on a whim.

Me and my husband have always liked to think our departed pets have gone to Snozzland - basically a lovely place full of forests , tress , all the food you can eat etc etc - very like the rainbow bridge!

Snozzland , Salmon river  , Rainboe Bridge , Heaven , whatever you want to believe in to help get you through your greif is in no way childish and that man is a complete  :censored: for belittling anyone who does.

It's just something we made up when we lost Maisie a while ago. We liked ot think of playing by a river filled with salmon that wanted to be eaten!

Ah yes, mine would be happy with that too!  ;D

We have "salmon river" rather than rainbow bridge. Everyone needs to feel comfort when they grieve.

I havent heard of salmon river Kate, is it a similar type of 'verse' to rainbow bridge?

He is the type of person that I would not like to meet in real life, mind you neither was the original poster.  I am not terribly thick skinned and tend to break down during arguments, I just cannot find the right words in time for any type of heated debate.  Realistically the young lady should never have got the cat in the first place but then I suppose hindsight is a wonderful thing.

However, I did not find his comments offensive after all everybody is entitled to their views - rather very extreme, his arguments about germs I found quite nonsensical.

Suppose he doesn't believe in Heaven either - wonder how he copes with a loss.

There's nothing wrong with that. I don't believe in Rainbow bridge or Heaven/Hell or Reincarnation. I will agree the way he brought it up was terribly aggressive, insensitive and uncalled for.

Oh, it wasn't a dig as such that he probably didn't believe in it. I have many friends with differing opinions on what happens after anything passes away. It was the way he brought up the subject as though using his comments as an instrument of attack. Whatever helps people to cope with loss as long as noting else gets hurt is fine by me.

I was debating what (if anything) to do about that thread but then the aggressive guy upped and left.  I do feel that offensive people like him condemn themselves out of their own mouths, to be honest.

The OP will definitely be rehoming her poor cat, so I hope she checks out the rescue link.

As for Rainbow Bridge, heaven and so on - well, for me the void is silent and any loss is absolute.  But I never, ever comment on others' beliefs in such things.

Oh that poor woman, she obviously thought she would get some much needed advice on how to rehome her cat and she got that!

Now, I don't agree with her wanting to get rid of her cat just cos she's having a baby but some people should respect her decision and try and support her.  At least she was trying to find the best place for her cat instead of abandoning it or just ignoring it when the baby does arrive.

I couldn't imagine getting rid of Lily (I was frantic the other day when she didn't come home for 6 hours) and agree that growing up with a pet does teach a child a valuable lesson.  I'm glad we're not as vicious as that on here.

I agree his comments were out of order.

Unfortunately, because of the many times we all hear on here and through other rescues the same reasons for rehoming the instinct to be skeptical is natural. Unfortunately it is sometimes best to offer the people like this lady the contacts for rescues as was done in the thread instead of trying to change their mind, it was clear from her second post she was pretty determined.

Hopefully the cat will have a new home soon.

Did get a bit heated! Sadly I think the cat will be better rehomed as the girl is clearly feeling very anxious about the whole thing and would probably end up stressing the cat.  Tht guys comments were totally uncalled for and I agree that he is very out of order mocking rainbow bridge and other peoples' beliefs.  Glad to hear he has deleted his account.

There is a name for people like him "troll". Although I have to say a baby and a cat in studio flat sounds like a nightmare. But to be honest more than 1 single adult in a studio flat sounds difficult!!!!!
Oh dear the housing crisis is only going to make things worst. We often wonder if we could fit a baby into our one-bed flat (can't move since house prices have fallen, dreaded neagative equity) and the answer is yes, but not once he/she got curious about the litter tray! So we don't have a baby...

Ummm....how horribly aggressive. Slating people for taking comfort in the Rainbow Bridge theory after they've lost a loved cat. Suppose he doesn't believe in Heaven either - wonder how he copes with a loss.

Have to say, was obvious that the posters decision was made though. There wasn't really much point trying to convince him; strange comment about the cot net!

Just come off CChat after reading that post....what a small-minded, noxious little jerk  :censored:!

Was pleased to see he's thrown his toys out of the pram and left!

Leaves our wonderful sensible guys  to set 'em straight  ;)

As for the pregnant woman oh how many times have we heard that line......my Sister has fallen for the no pets garbage, but my niece has a lot of GI problems from mixing with other kids at the nursery!    My father takes every opportunity to introduce her to his 'kitty'  :evillaugh:

Animals are the best way to teach a child about loving, caring and death. I was grateful and fortunate to have animals when I was young. Can't imagine being without them. People just give up too easily and it's always the poor animals that suffer >:(

Oh dear.  It did all get a bit heated, didn't it.  I think most children would do better being raised around animals than in the germ free, antibacterial environment so many are raised in these days.

Had a gander. Couldn't resist. Oh dear, he did get his knickers in a twist  :-: My sister in law was also very worried when she was pregnant with my nephew but my brother stuck to his guns and they still have the 3 gingers and practice good hygiene.  TBH it's the cats I worry about now that my nephew is almost 2 and his latest game is chase the "miaow"  :scared:  Thankfully the gingers can still escape upstairs through the stair gates  :evillaugh:
