**** UPDATE ****

On Sunday, Gerry lost his fight. He has been slowly getting worse and my Dad rushed him to a specialist in Bourne. The Vet  took one look at the supposed cancerous growth and said "it's a cyst", said cyst had ruptured and was oozing through the tear duct. Eventually, it entered the blood stream and the brain. I have never heard my Dad cry before. But he was heartbroken and so mad.

Gerry had been to about 4 different vets and even seen some student vets who were training. The student vet is the only one who said she thought it must have been a cyst. So every week for 3 months until last week, my Dad had been paying for steriod injections to try and help the growth, when in fact it was just containing it as it was only a cyst.

I am a little mad and upset at the same time. Only one x-ray was taken even tho my dad wanted more to be done.

Poor Gerry. He led a good life. I just wish the end could have been better xxx

Steroids reduce inflammation so yes can help. Have they investigated his mouth throughly?
My friends cat had stomach cancer and for 6 months the lump disappeared with steroids, eventually they stopped helping but they can buy you some extra time

I hope Gerry gets well soon. One of our past cats called Dinky had a problem with a tooth, and it formed an abcess causing severe swelling under her eye, thankfully it wasn't a serious condition.

MY kocka had a huge swelling under one eye and the vet was mystified but it turneed out to be a problem with her teeth, she was also in so much pain.

I hope that Gerry can be helped

My Dad's cat Gerry is really poorly. He's about 15 years old so he's doing good. But his face keeps swelling up in lumps. He has one particular lump under his eye which swells up so badly it causes his eye to close completely

He is on weekly Steroid injections from the Vet. The Vet thinks it might be cancer, but can't really be sure. Once the injections are administered, the swelling goes down 24 hours later. It's all very confusing to me.

Would Steroid injections cause a cancerous lump to completely go within 24hrs but re-appear when it's time for the next injection?
