I came across a study on feral colonies yesterday (I was looking for survival info on neutered males as someone had told someone that a neutered feral male has less chance of survival than unneutered) and the articla said that 75% of feral kittens 'vanished' before reaching 6 months of age.

if you're interested (all 240 pages of it!)

Good luck with these and thank goodness you could help.

Fingers & paws crossed for little Diablo and the lot of them.

I love the food faces & swimming. When I helped hand feed Little Girl she had to be cleaned up after every feeding, she was a swimmer as well, the more food she had on her the happier she was.

Good luck with these little ones.

Most kittens swim in it
Just finished feeding and changing bedding again, I am pretty sure Diablo is deaf and dont think he can see anything, but we are getting food into him and clearing those eyes, big improvement since yesterday but long way to go.

some day 2 pics

Teresa there is only word to describe you ...... SAINT

God bless you and and the seven little tiny souls in your care.  Fingers crossed for Diablo ... he sounds like a real little character.
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Diablo screams for life

Early yesterday I was called out to some very ill feral kittens who had been abandoned by their mothers 3 days before. I was the 6th rescue on the list and 20 miles away the first 5 rescues unable to help. Evidently it was the same last year and the lady despite asking for help ended up burying 15 feral kittens, she was even told to leave them  again this year. So for 3 days she ignored the screaming until finally she couldnt bear the noise any more, I heard those screams down the phone and was so concerned I rang my husband told him to leave work and go straight to the house which was fortunately a couple of miles from him( I had a vet appt). The kittens were raced to our vet  in an awful state, all were given antibiotics and its been a long fight since, to be honest yesterday we feared we would lose Diablo and Marguerita, the vet thinks Diablo may lose his eyesthere is a lot of swelling behind them, we have bathed the 3 tiny ones in a bid to remove the putrid dried in gunk from their rear ends ; Marguerita still smells . The 3 tiny ones are all being syringe fed, the 4 bigger ones are now lapping, all are making a vast recovery although Diablo is still not out of the woods.
If Diablo hadnt screamed these 7 babies would have been left for dead, makes me wonder how many times this happens.

Modified to add , the tiny ones are Diablo, Marguerita and Pedro

The bigger ones are  Lollipuss, Mad Mooch. Monkey and Huggi
