I seem to be having continuous ear problems with Barney, around August last year he had a build up of ear wax took him to the vets who gave him some cleanaural. At Christmas he had earmites which caused his ears to be blotchy, took him back and was prescribed Canaural which cleared this problem up. 4 weeks ago I noticed a build up of wax yet again to the vets where there was just a locum vet on call, who promptly stuck a thermometer up Barney's backside. I told the vet that the problem was in his ears which were the 2 pointy things at the other end of Barney on top of his head. He had a quick look and prescribed so more cleanaural again. Two weeks later I noticed that his ears were getting scabby again, thinking that he might have earmites again I took him back insisting on seeing the main vet, fortunately he does not have earmites, according to the vet because Barney has advocate once a month this should keep the mites away, but he did have a huge build up of wax which is causing Barney to scratch his ears a lot which in turn is just making his ears turn scabby and red raw. So now he his back on canaural for 7 days. The vet also said that if this problem continues he would have to knock Barney out so he can put a scope in his ears and see there is a problem inside, which if possible I would like to avoid happening. So I am just wondering if someone else has had this problem and how it was dealt with or not. The other 4 cats have no problems with their ears whatsoever...
