diet and meds are not a problem PB, I used to work as a vet assistant so have the necessary skills for administering tablets and needles if required. I would hate for her to go missing again, simply because of delays trapping her while working out the mechanics of the process. This little girl needs a proper roof over her head ...  :Luv:

There is a train service between here and Canterbury so if necessary I can just stay on the train to collect her and bring her home ...

Obviously stage 1 is to get Maddie seen by our vets and given the all clear. I wouldn't be surprised if she needs to go on some special diet and maybe even meds. After that, transport would be the big issue here, BC., but I will make some enquiries and see what can be done and if our vets think Maddie might be up to a journey to Chatham just yet.

Many thanks for the offer. Always helps to have as many strings to our bows as we can find.

a sensible precaution, I think, especially if she is unsure she can keep them separated.

I am sure Rae said on this thread or the other one that she could not take Maddie until she had seen a vet and been cleared healthwise.

That would seem the most sensible arrangement if Rae is willing to do that, but my offer still stands if Sharon decides she needs an intermediate foster.

Wouldnt it be easier all round if she went straight to Rae ?
Surely it would be more stressfull for her to stay at the vets or a fosters when she is going to end up with Rae anyway ? She could then see a vet at Rae's end

but we need a local fosterer to fill the gap between immediate vet assessment and stabilisation and Maddie being fit for travel to Rae.  :scared:

well I am  more than happy to take care of her. I have experience with siamese and a spare room, as I am sure I have mentioned before. She would have privacy and peace and plenty of hideyholes if she felt the need and good company when she wanted it. It so happens I am working from home tomorrow morning so can prepare a space for her if you are interested.

can anyone from siameserescue get involved and help? (if they aren't already?) they seme to have a wide entowkr of people around the country, perhaps one could foster temporarily, especially if they know she has a home to go to?  and if something is wrong and she can;t live with another cat then SR could try to rehome her as a single?

(sorry if this sounds like words from the inexperienced/ignorant!) :)

It's possible but as Rae is happy to take her, I think that's what we should be aiming for. I took a Siamese to Siamese rescue a few weeks ago (FCoV girl) and it was over 100 miles round trip. She has survived this long outside so another week or 2 in the warm weather shouldn't do to much harm. She knows the area and she is being fed - there is an old man that feeds all the local cats and he is around all the time so hopefully it will all work out well  :).

It's certainly frustrating.  :'(

We could get her into a vet pen, but given that she's been outside for months now and had got herself into a routine of sorts, the stress of being cooped up indefinately might do more damage than good.  :(

I am sure Sharon is doing her best and thinking of all possible solutions, but we need a local fosterer to fill the gap between immediate vet assessment and stabilisation and Maddie being fit for travel to Rae.  :scared:

This is so sad.  I know that not all cats that come into rescue come in because of abuse, or neglect or a bad situation but it makes me mad to think that in some cases because of irresponsible people and massive kitten booms, nothing can be done at the moment to help Maddie and Melissa be reunited and it is very sad.

I know that it would be a fantastic and perfect ending if the two ladies could be back together and I feel very helpless and useless here being so far away.  I know that Maddie may need to settle somewhere to be assessed before coming here but if a vets could look at her and keep her for a couple of days I would be more than willing to travel down and collect from there.

If there is anything that I can do to help please let me know.  I would suggest collecting her direct from the man who is feeding her and I could get her to a vets here but if there is anything wrong and she couldnt be put with other cats I would be a bit stuck.

Sorry folks, Im just trying to think of ways around the situation.  I know everyone woul dlove to see a happy ending and I sincerely appreciate everything that is being done. :Luv2:

At the moment we just dont have any where to put Madeline after she is caught. She needs to go to the vets and ideally have a place for a few days to settle before Rae can visit and pick her up, but we dont even have the luxury of that...Yesterday we changed our phone message to say we cannot help at the moment until our small crisis is over, i got several people over the weekend ring about kittens but no one can take any at the moment.. One of the Kingstone sisters (Hera) goes today but that leaves 2 more and a mum and kitten home fell through yesterday due to ill health. So we have four cats with fosterers at the moment with no where to move them too when they go away... Yesterday i rang HQ who are trying to help but they have over 200 cats on their adoption centre waiting list...

Unless movement we just are not able to move forward on Maddie at the moment.

I think these people may need us to go down with a basket first, Mark.  :shy:

Poor Sharon is pulling her hair out with so many calls and so many problems today.  :(

Shame I haven't got a 2nd basket. If they don't keep Alice in this morning, Maybe I can drop my basket there. I have a plastic one but after the escapee, I am wary of using it.

I can pick my glasses up any day really a couple more days won't hurt so whatever can be arranged, I can go into Canterbury and drop Madeleine off at Animal House. Maybe they could check her over and maybe keep her in for a day or 2?

Hi all

Julie- Nev says to pass on a message in return  "gone for a pint!"

He said it was fine, so I have let Sharon know and now will see if a plan can be put into place somehow to reunite the two of them.

Just spoken with my OH, who took the call this morning from the lady feeding Madeline. He's asked for the following message to be past to Rae's hubby - "I'd just go for a pint, mate. You know it's pointless trying to say No"...

I think that's absolutely brilliant and so good of you to want to try. And tell Hubby if he says yes, he get's lifetime membership of the Crazy Cat Person's Club.  :blow kiss: Obviously, you need to spend a bit of time thinking and planning the reunion. Madeline has been missing a long time.  :(

It does seem like a happy ending waiting to be executed here, so whatever I can do, Sharon, just ask - as you know, I'm off work to 2 weeks so can run around a bit.  ;)

I'm off to start getting the drinks in. I smell a party in the air!  :wow:

Hi all

How wonderful that Madeline has been found.  I have just spoken to Sharon and once I have had a word with Hubbie this eve (to TELL him that we are getting another kitty) all being well I would be thrilled to reunite her with her long lost friend.

There will obviously be some planning required which I will speak to Sharon in depth about so lets all keep everything crossed that Madeline doesnt do another runner and dissapear.

I have taken the first step already and asked Melissa (Missa) and she is very happy and exited about it, although the issue of bunk wigwams will need discussing   . ;D

The lady left a message on my phone. I am in contact with Rae (well left a message) and maybe siamese rescue as there is no hope of a space being available for her for weeks and weeks it took us 3 wks to get the last lot of cats in our care via the vets..

He condition is abit mangy but other then that hard to tell...

I had a brief chat with the lady whose husband has been feeding Madeline after she called me this morning. She says Madeline comes round at 7am every morning and her husband has slowly managed to befriend her. She feels confident that he can put her in a basket for us now.  :wow:

I've heard nothing from Sharon yet so don't know what the plan is, but again we have no room so Madeline might have to hold on a few days more.  :(

Well, I have just come back from the site. I'm afraid there's been no sign of puss for a while now. The house/bungalow is now completely stripped and they are finishing the redecorations. I expect it will be re-occupied in a matter of a few days now. I can't see puss returning and there's not much motivation for her to stay around now.  :'(

Thankfully, I managed to rescue our traps as they were about to be chucked on the skip.  :tired:

I will try a stake out one evening when the weather gets better, but my hopes are now on puss being befriended by someone else in the area and them taking her to a vet. We really have tried evening else.
