I think the council are trying to help - they came again this morning so that makes it about the 5th visit. I supose you can call that reasonable. Strictly speaking, the tenancy has ended with death to put it bluntly. The council want to get the place ready for the next tenant on their waiting list.
Anyway, I missed a call this morning when I was hoovering
When I called back, Margaret, our coordinator had phoned. When I called her back, she said the problem had been sorted. The lady from the council had decided to set one of the traps in the house this morning and plans on going back at 5pm to check. She wasn't sure how to set it so went to the vet just around the corner from the house. The vet said she will show them for £10
- In the end, Sharon explained how to do it over the phone.
This is the same vet that a couple of months ago, when a woman wanted us to take a "stray" in with a bad eye but had no transport, allowed her to drop it off. She (the vet) then offered to do a Chlamydia test for £100 which we declined as I was taking the cat to our regular vet later that day. When I collected him, she was really sarcastic about it. Our regular vet put him on antibiotics and it was clear in a couple of days.
I said to Sharon, the vet is a fool to herself as this could become a nice story for the local paper and the vet could have got some good publicity from it but she is just a moneygrabber

It is obvious that a civil servant wouldn't be able to pay £10 without it going to a commitee and half a dozen triplicate forms filled in first.
