:yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: I think we've turned a corner! She ate some chicken this morning - of her own accord from her plate, she didnt eat much but its a good start!

I noticed a subtle change when I woke up this morning (early!) and had a quick peek downstairs to see how she was (she hadnt been sleeping on my bed like she usually does). She actually sat up when she saw me and did her usual purr (sounds bit like a helicopter LOL!) which I hadnt heard in a while, and then licked my hand (another of her little foibles!). That just about made my day, and then of course she had something to eat.  :yesss:

She's been out in the garden too - here she is, with Harry just checkin to make sure she's alright LOL!

Have you got a little plastic syringe - my vet gave me a pack of 3 and Smartie will drink from it without any problem -its also helpful to use the syringe with a litle water at the same time as giving the tablets -it goes down easier.
Smartie is having antibiotics at the moment ( herpes  virus flare up ) and on 2 a day + his fortekor and eye cream !- but he is really good at taking tablets -good job as he is always on some for one thing and another !!
Lectade is good - if mine have been ill and not been eating i mix that up and give with the syringe.
Hope Lucy starts picking up real soon.

Is she fine with her drinking Gillian? Hope her eating improves!  ;)

She has been drinking a little, but vet gave me some Lectade, which I'm gonna try her with, in between the 4 hourly feeds, the 3 bronchodilator pills a day, and the 2 antibiotic pills a day!

Still no change really, I've just fed her some a/d, got a bit messy! her and me. Its trying to get a balance between getting medication and food into her, but at the same time not making her feel like she's being pulled about when she feels ill.

Thanks again guys  :thanks: I don't think theres been any significant change today, the only thing I can see is that she's resting easier if you know what I mean? instead of sitting hunched as she was last night and this morning, she now looks slightly more comfortable. However her breathing doesnt look any slower - and she's still not eating on her own (3 days now  :( ) I'm hand feeding her a/d, small amount, every 4 hours or so, but I'm only getting a teaspoon or so each time. I don't feel I need to rush her down to the vets at the moment, but I'm still very worried about her.

Hi Gillian - I hope there is some improvement today

Lucy's been to the vet
« Reply #1 on: April 19, 2008, 00:40:32 AM »
Took Lucy to the vet and don't think she knows whats wrong or even if its just awful coincidence that Lucy is having breathing problems just like Gypsy did, or whether its related. She's had Cephaguard antibiot injection and dexadreson (anti-inflam?) and some Ceporex antibioit tablets plus Millophylline tabs (bronchodilators) - basically the same stuff that Gypsy was given and a lot of good it did her  :(

Her breathing's not really improved, in fact at one point she got up from the bed she was in and flopped on the floor, breathing really fast. She's not sneezing or coughing at all like Gypsy was, it doesnt seem the same to me, and she's not open mouth breathing, but just fast and laboured. I've just got to keep an eye on her and obviously ring if worried - I've done nothing but worry  :(
