my local authority uses plastic bags for recycling, so everything that goes in there is washed out and the opening stomped on so as to avoid just this sort of problem.

Dont think this has been a case of the cat being fed, more of a cat  scavenging.

As for the RSPCA I suppose if the cat were feral they would of took it back and pts? They may of left it because it might have an owner, my Harry does not have a collar and wanderes the streets.

So a tame cat was put back - how typical of the RSPCA. Why didn't they take it into care?  >:(

I must admit, that was my thought as well. >:(

Fred, one of my rescued ferals did that soon after being trapped. I accidentally and FOOLISHLY left an empty can in the cat room after I'd fed them. Soon after, I heard a clanking noise coming from their room, and found Fred with a can stuck on his head. He was petrified, and so was I. I had a friend on the phone, calming me down and helping me sort out what to do. We eventually sussed that the lack of oxygen would make him calmer, and maybe pass out.

He did eventually calm. So I sat on him and held him down with a blanket and pulled the can from his head (it was mostly on his muzzle). One relieved Fred. I jumped out of his way sharpish.

No wonder I always looked like I self-harmed!
Cats were once gods; they have never forgotten this, nor have the people they own.

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain
