He hasn't eaten so much today but then again he has spat out the pill 2 days running  :( - I am going to have to be firm with him. I am going to get some scales. I also want to make sure Kylie is slowly losing weight and isn't still over 7kg and that Willow is under 2.5kg

As a result of this thread Mark I weighed our Tom today and surprised to see that he is 1/2kg less than in January altho still 4.9kg so not panicking. Goes to show losing weight not always that noticeable so regular weigh ins a good idea methinks

He last had full bloods around November. Wen I took him to the new vet in January, he said Clapton seemed so well that it wasn't worth doing them this time. He isn't acting poorly and is playing in the garden and chasing paper balls around. I will keep an eye and get him tested if there are any changes. He is such a timid cat that he plays dead at the vets and takes days to get over it.

When did Clapton last have blood tests Mark and did vet include test for HyperT?  When Tom had blood tests last year following suspected stroke, test for HyperT was included.  That does sound alot of food but our Tom eats smallish amounts about 10 times a day. I'm sure it would be quite a mound if his daily intake were put on one plate. We don't really keep track relying instead on any weight loss to indicate problems.

Thanks - I will speak to the vet. I know when my neighbour's cat had it, he was as light as a feather but Clapton is far from it.

MArk, I'm sure you know the link between hyper-t and kidney issues, I would be thinking of getting his thyroid tested - weight is good, but that amount of food isn't normal.
Please spay your cat

He has been on it for around 16 - 17 months. He will completely clear a whole pouch and sit there waiting for another. He regularly eats 6 pouches + some chicken every day but weights around 5kg - prettty normal weight I suppose.

Dunno how long Clapton has been on Fortekor but I remember being told that it did increase appetite.

Instead of using a full pouch and giving him it 2-3 times a day we started giving half a pouch more often. It's a bit more work and I always seem to be cleaning pet food dishes but Henry seems to be happier with smaller portions more often.

I've noticed such a change in my little old man since he has been on it, much more active and he actually moves from his "throne"

Hi Mark,

Sounds like Clapton may just like this new variety. My 2 are very all or nothing, they will either clear the plate and ask for more or turn their noses up after 2 mouthfuls.

I do find myself saying no to them if they are continually asking for food as Jack has a slight tendency to obeseness, although he is not obese at the moment.

Best advice I can think of is to keep an eye on it and see. If he keeps eating loads it may be worth asking the vet.

Clapton really is eating a lot. He is just eating his 4 pouch of the day. He always want a lot but leaves some usually. Today he is clearing the plate - I gave him his 3rd pouch and he ate it all and sat by the bowl waiting for more. It's the first time he has had Felix poultry mix in jelly so maybe it's a novelty - but he he goes on like this, he will be on 8 a day  - He has gradually gained weight since he started taking Fortekor but he isn't fat by any means and he doesn't do much exercise. Is there anything to worry about?
