I'm so sorry Ela

I know you would not have taken such a decision lightly, and was done with Gypsy's best interests at heart.

RIP little one, play hard at the Bridge sweetheart xxx

Thank you and thanks to all for your messages.

Very occasionally there is that element of doubt.  I think ‘but did I make the decision because it is a convenience to us as we are not going to have to wipe and clean her bum, legs and feet many times a day. (She just did not know anything was coming away from her.) Although I know no cat problem really is a problem for me to deal with and I did not mind. Gypsy really had on numerous occasions had every type of medication that I think must be known to man for her problem; some cleared it up to manageable, but always within a few days it started to get worse again. I know (or I think I know)  deep down in my heart it was the right decision. I also know our vets would never gently PTS any animal if it could have a quality life

ELa, I am so sorry to hear about Gypsy, RIP little girl, playing on the Bridge now.  I know exactly what a hard a decision it must have been for you, I am going through exactly the same one at the moment with Tarka, his runny bum has returned and with the kittens around, he has to spend so much time in his pen and I know this is not fair on him or a good quality of life, but at the same time, as you say, is it for him I am making the decision or for me?

Sending lots of love to you, the decision to let them go is always an agonising one,  and hoping Teddy's results are good.

Always so sad to let them go but you loved her enough to know when the time was right.  :care:

RIP Gypsy.

I hope Teddy's blood test results turn out ok.

Teddy has had a blood test, I suppose they may well ring with the results  while I am at fat club. All the usual signs are good though and her heart sounds fine.

Ela so sorry Gypsy had to leave  :(

A hard decision but deep down you know it was the right one - 16 years is a fabulous age for a babe - she was loved and worshipped and had a fabulous life with you.

She's now pain free and palying with all our bridge babes - My Beau & Zak willl show her all the best resting places and where to find the sunniest spot.

Night Night Gypsy sweetheart - be good till your Mummy comes for you xxxxxx

Sadly I made the decision to let Gypsy go and meet up with all those we have loved and lost, never an easy decision but I hope the right one. I could have kept her a little longer but her quality of life was gone and I was having to clean her bum a number of times a day and the vet said although there was something we could try, (we had tried that something a few times before), it was just delaying the inevitable.

I will be going to the vets in a while with 2 cats, 1 14 yrs and one 16, and I am not too sure I will be bringing 16 year old Gypsy back with me, she has always been small and weighs less than 2 kg, she came when she was a few weeks old from one of those houses like you see on TV occasionally, loads of cats and you have to wipe you feet when you come out. Her bowel problem which she has had for a long time is worse now. Also 14 year old Teddy had had a huge fit, although now she seems fine I would rather air on the side of caution and take her for a MOT.
