I think I will get some. I am really accident prone so might be good for me as well. Once, I was working in a nightclub and went to cut a pizza open with a very sharp knife which cut through to the bone (they wouldn't help in that situation  :evillaugh: )  One of the staff bandaged it for me and I started walking along the Thames to St Thomas' hospital (about 2 miles and this was about 1am :Crazy: ) The bandage was soaked in blood and I has holding it with the other hand to try and stem the bleeding. A police car pulled up and asked what happened. I told them and they made me undo the bandage to show them the wound.
He saw how bad it was and said "OK, On your way"   >:(:Crazy: (another reason I don't like the police  :tired: )

I can vouch for the fact that these swabs don't sting - quite soothing in fact!

Blood stop Swabs
Styptic Drops
Antibacterial Powder (maintains healthy skin)
Herbal Skin Gel - it's a soothing gel made from marigold, comfrey & Aloe Vera, Rosemary  Tea Tree Oil. It's supposed to help maintain healthy skin, encourages hair growth, stimulates new tissue and controls ringworm and other bacteria type things.
Antibacterial Spray - for cuts and grazes ... I've used it a bit and its REALLY good.
Otodex Skin Cream - for sore spots, grazes, burns. It's like Germolene (sp?) for pets.
Kool Pak
Sterile Hydrogel
Surgical Tape
Couple of packs of vetrap (in purple lol)
K-Band
And vet grade cotton wool
Plus Tweazers (sp?)
All of it together wasn't very expensive (about £30) which is cheaper than the set packs you can buy. I looked at those but decided to make my own.

I've got some of these too. I have a bottle of the liquid too. Fab stuff .. except I've not had to use either so far. I recommend everyone gets something. Molly cut her pad one day which resulted in blood gushing everywhere. She ended up with a wonderful pink bandaged leg. Whilst it happened I realised I had nothing in the way of pet first aid ... Now I have a fully stocked kit.

If I had the swabs then it would have stopped the bleeding.

I just googled them and the buds Gillian gets are better as they have anaesthetic in as well. One article said a lot of people won't use the pencils because the sting if worse than the shaving cut  :scared:

Blades must be so much better now as I rarely cut myself shaving.

Ha! just googled it (after the event, oh well  :evillaugh: ) : It is slightly acidic. Historically 20-per-cent ferric subsulphate (Monsel’s solution) was first used in a military hospital in Bordeaux, France, in 1857 as a strong styptic.

Lidocaine is apparently Lignocaine (sp?!) - sort of local anaesthetic I think.

Anyway - Active Ingredients are: Ferric Subsulfate and Lidocaine HCL - also with Aloe Vera Gel and Chamomile.

Can you really use them on humans without a problem..........yes I know you just have but it says for animals ............OK getting coat  :rofl: :rofl:

I got some of these from PAH to take when I go to my grooming customers in case I cut the quick when I do their cats claws (never have, yet  :evillaugh: ) I used to carry a powder blood stop in a little tub (opened ready, just in case!) - but because I never actually used it, it would sit in my grooming bag for a year, then I'd check it, only to find it had gone rock solid - no use to anyone!

These are liquid filled cotton buds, and you just snap one end, liquid flows down to the other end, soaks the cotton bud and you just wipe it on wherever's bleeding (claw or small skin nicks) and it stops the bleeding - what a nifty idea!

Anyway, I can vouch for the fact they stop bleeding as tonight I practically sliced the top of my thumb off opening a flippin corned beef can  :doh: - It just would not stop bleeding, then I had a lightbulb moment  :idea: - remembered I'd got these swabs, tried one, and instantly stopped the bleeding! Yes, I know they are for pets - but hey, at least I have road-tested them now LOL!
