Poor lad - he's still a handsome so and so, though. Sending Captain lots of fuss. (As in Cap'n Jack Sparrow - sorry I had to give him a name in my head!)

This gorgeous little lad has to have his eye removed  :(  I had a phone call off Sean whilst I was on my way home and he said the eye ball is ruptured and he also has Glaucoma in that eye, I'm hoping he'll let me keep him in the surgery for a few days as I hate taking the packing out

I had a phone call off Pam earlier asking how he was and she said the morning after she trapped him, another little black one appeared the same size as this little fella meowing like mad, and it's been there everyday since  :(  I just hope he hasn't got a friend that's been left behind  :tired:  She said the other one will rub round her legs so I've asked her to have a quick feel if she can  :shify: and then to let me know  ;)

I'm not sure what name to pick for him yet, I'm still thinking on it as it has to be something I'll remember  :um:

Awwwwww bless his little face  :Luv:

I think you should call him Pirate like JS says - or Pickle  :sneaky: orrrr Pickle Pirate  ;)

Lots of love coming his way from three black cats (Doc says fancy not knowing a black boy-cat when you sees one  :sneaky: ) xxxxxx

I was going to take this little one in last night but didn't get back til late, I've phoned the vets today and he'll be going in in the morning to be neutered and if he needs his eye sorting, they'll do it at the same time.  He is a little fuss pot once he relaxes with you and I'm sure he'll make someone the perfect furbabe once he learns to trust properly  :Luv:  :Luv:

I may try and get him in the vets later for a check up, depending on who's on and if he needs an op on his eye, he can be done on Thursday as I've got Amelia in then but I want to cancel her op til she fattens up a little bit.  I'm still not convinced it's the normal opaque eye but I can't really tell, hopefully he won't have to have an op on it but I can't at this stage see him getting the full use back in it, again I could be wrong.  After I posted the pics last night, he rolled over for a tummy tickle and was licking my hand, a definite softie in the making me thinks  :Luv:  :Luv:

Oh Dawn. His eye looks to be a real problem but delighted to hear he is eating well. Hope Sean is able to help this little fella or put your mind at rest that the eye is less of a problem than it looks.

I've just discovered this little babe is actually a boy so he needs to have a name change  :-[  He is unneutered so will be done when he goes in  :tired:  He's still eating really well and I think over time, he will become a little snugglebum, he now pushes his head into my hand for a fuss but he wasn't impressed when I had a feel to see what sex he was  :evillaugh:

Piccies will have to wait til tomorrow for this little one, my batteries still aren't charged  :tired:  She has settled down great though, no hissing/spitting and she has let me give her a chin rub  :Luv:  :Luv:  For now, I'm going to call her Sophie but this will have to change if she's turns out to be a boy as I don't want another Emily on my hands  :evillaugh:  She's eaten 2 pouches of food and some biccies and although a little frightened, at least she's got a warm bed and won't take too long to settle.  I was worried sick about her the last few nights, the weather has been so cold here and the rain has been bloody awful, no life for a kitty outdoors  :'(  I think the lady was surprised I would actually take Sophie in today with it being Easter   In rescue though Easter is just another day, the same as Christmas Day or is it no rest for the wicked  :evillaugh:

What causes the opaque eye Ela? is it something like a catteract?

Don't think cataract (well not in the cases we have had) but have no idea what, usually when they come in the eye is already opaque and all the vet thinks is some for of old injury. Of course in a diabetic cat  eyes have been known to go opaque.

I don't know much about eye problems, but at the rescue I've been visiting, there is a cat with 2 opaque eyes, apparently she can still see, just not quite as well as she would with normal eyes, they don't know what caused it though.

I've had a few blind one's in but I've not seen an eye quite like this one, hopefully it's nothing sinister but it needs to be checked out, and she'll need shaving to see if she's been spayed.  She definitely not wild and has let me stroke her but I'm not quite at the trusting stage with her yet, she looks as if she's wants to go at me but hasn't so I'm hoping my hands will remain bite free  ;)

What causes the opaque eye Ela? is it something like a catteract?

I think this one looks to be quite young so I don't think it will be a cataract, maybe a knock from a car or something  :shy:

We have taken loads of cats in over the years with an opaque eye, never had one with a tumour or anything sinister behind it though. In fact there are not many times when we don’t have in care at least one with an opaque eye. Fingers crossed for this little girl.

Poor little black cat - Now with Piccies
« Reply #1 on: March 23, 2008, 16:20:37 PM »
A couple of you will know, I've been trying to trap what was assumed to be a feral cat the last few nights.  She'd turned up at a lady's house where I'd rehomed a couple of kittens to a couple of years ago, I think it's a she anyway, haven't been brave enough to look yet  :shify:  Anyway, I left the trap with her as the main time she saw her was in the morning and with me working today and tomorrow, she would have had to wait until the evening.  I phoned her this morning whilst in work and the little darling had just gone in the trap  :briggin:    The poor little babe is blind in one eye but the eyeball is quite opaque, not the usual blindness so I'm hoping she's not got a tumour or anything behind the eye ball   :(  She is also full of ticks, I've seen 5 on her without even looking   Sean is back in work on Thursday and I was going to try and hold off taking her in til then but I'll see how she is in herself and take it from there.  She ate a full pouch of whiska's whilst in the trap so she was definitely hungry bless her  :Luv:
