I have to say Bob is one of the most gorgeous loving cats I have come across  :Luv:  :Luv:  He really is a sweetheart and extremely loving, I really can't believe someone had allowed him to get into the state he was in  >:(  >:(  >:(  He is sooooo tiny as well, I don't think there's much difference between him and Emily and Emily is minute for his age.  He's coped brilliantly with the surgery and I've had no hissing or spitting, he absolutely adores having tummy tickles but these have to be limited as he does get rather excited and exposes himself  :-[  I will get some more piccies of him and keep you posted  :Luv2:  :Luv2:

This little man is still in the vets  :tired:  Sean said there was still a little packing in there and hopefully tomorrow he will come home   The good thing is he isn't stressed in there but I'm hoping they give him a reduced rate for his length of stay as he's now been in a week

Nope  :sneaky:  Sean pulled a little more packing out whilst I was there this evening and there's still some left.  Hopefully tomorrow will be the last day in there for him, if not, he will definitely be coming home Friday  :wish:  I had a few minutes with him earlier anyway and he is fine, he's so well behaved in there bless him  :Luv:  :Luv:

Bob? Well, I guess it'll be easier for him to learn than Captain. (Which of course, he'll still be called in my head. I'm quite stubborn!)

Glad he's doing well, he looks a great little character.

I've been to see this little guy this evening and he's fine  :Luv:  Sean said he was really good when they removed some of the packing, hopefully he come home early next week but I know he'll be safe in Sean's care over the weekend  :Luv:   Heidi the vet nurse has decided to call him Bob which I quite like for him really, so Bob it is  :)

Regards to point one this in no way suggests this boy has been neglected by his current carer. The damage was done while he was living out.

I think it's more than likely he was a stray, he was in such a mess bless him and covered in ticks    Regards to packing the eye, I would say the other surgery I use is old fashioned, Sean did his first eye op there which was on Morris and every eye op he does, he puts packing in.

This little guy is fine anyway, Sean said the op went well but he's an older cat and he said ideally one his teeth wants removing but because of everything he's been through today, he didn't want to leave him open to infection so the tooth will probably have to be done at a later date.

The modern way is to pack using a gel which is absorbed by the animal: packing as such which needs removal is done for one of two reasons:
1-the eye has been left untreated for too long and damage/infection behind the eye is severe.
2- the vet is very old fashioned.

Regards to point one this in no way suggests this boy has been neglected by his current carer. The damage was done while he was living out.

Trevor the other vet did an eye op for me a while ago, he didn't use packing but Sean and the other vets I've dealt with do, I'm not sure what the reasoning behind it is, unless it's to keep the shape.  The packing has to be pulled out bit by bit each day, I really haven't got the stomach for it and I worry about hurting them, Sean said this little one can stay in for a few days and they'll remove it  :shy:

Just caught up with this - what a handsome boy.

It may be my ignorance Dawn (and probably is), but do all eye removals need packing?  I know I have now seen two at Paws Inn and neither of them had packing? The eye was just removed and stitched up. Does it just depend on the vet?  I would have thought it would also be really uncomfortable for the cat too.

Wishing this little guy lots of luck. I am sure he will feel much better when it is all over.
