Sam, there are also loads of cat products containing tea tree oil, but that is also toxic to cats. I think last time we discussed it, we came to the conclusion that it is very minute amounts that wouldn't hurt initially, but could build up in the cats system if used over a long period

Probably safest to check with the vet then...... maybe they do some stuff for cats but remove the 'toxic' element if that's poss?.....

I have just a search on Yahoo ... aloe vera cats .... and there seem to be loads of products for cats containing aloe vera.

I also understand that Aloe Vera is toxic to cats. 

I use it on my dogs and on my horse and it's brilliant for helping with hair re-growth and calming sores but NEVER use it on cats

I just thought i would look up aloe vera and cats on 'google' and its frightening that there are a lot of sites recommending its use both internally and externally with cats. I have only had a quick look and there seems to be fewer sites warning not to use it, than those recommending it.

Definantly gonna just leave him, he's recovering himself just fine, obviously dont want to do anything that could possibly hinder that.

Haven't spoke to the vet about it, but glad i asked if it's toxic to cats! I would have checked it though before i gave him it. I don't think i will bother with either of them because he is recovering well himself.

He was hit by a car on Christmas eve, it's in another post here..'broken tail/truamatic tail'

The family member who recommended them, knows a lot of vets and she says they dont advise people to use them, becaue its not their field, but that they know they can be beneficial.

He is recovering well himself though, so i think i will just let him recover naturally.

Yes just because its good for 1 species doesn't mean its good for all, you should really see your vet.

I was wondering if anyone had used magnets or aloe vera to help thier cats before. A family member who has horses and dogs uses both these methods regularly on her animals and swears by both of them. She has suggested I use magnets and hold them close to my cat Bailey's injury area, which will promote blood flow and help him recover. She has also suggested getting some aloe vera in liquid form and giving him a little each day.

Anyone else used these methods before? I dont think there is any harm in trying the magnets, but not sure about the aloe vera?
