Thanks, we made it because none of the ones in the pet shop looked big and I didn't want one with bars as they are harder to keep clean. Didn't take us too long to make that cage and didn't cost too much either. The hamster (called mouse!) seems to love it too!

Aww, there's two pretty ladies right there. :)

By the way, I love that DIY-ed hamster cage. It looks really secure and not too cramped like a lot of ready made ones.

Took me ages to choose those collar colours, I actually had a pic of them pulled up on the computer next the the kittycollars website to see which would go best with ginger!!

With the food, I couldn't remember how much casper ate when he was that age, so I have been using the amounts on the back of the packets. They always finish it all off and ask for more though!

:evillaugh: Memph licks towels, but only after they've been used. He also ate like a horse when he came home .. he went from 2 meals a day (3 if I was around) to 4 every day ... but then he was an awful long smaller and younger than your two .. who are GORGEOUS. They are soooooooooooo cute. And I love the colours of their collars

Thanks everyone - and yes, clare, definitely worth the wait!

They are still putting on weight and eat like they havn't had food in ages. I have to be careful about how much I give them as they will eat everything on offer in about 5 minutes and I don't think they would stop if they got full. I think this could be something to do with their past home but I don't know enough about it really, just how skinny they were when I first saw them.

They also do a wierd thing with towels, I noticed them doing it in the rescue and I thought its just a comfort thing, I sat down after a shower with a towel round me and they both jumped up and started doing it again. What they will do is knead the towel with their paws and claws and lick it, the towel they had in the rescue centre was very soggy at one corner.

Yup, Amber has quite dark, thick stripes with really cute little spiral shapes on her sides. Chilli has some pale thin stripes but she is mostly spotty. Makes it a lot easier to tell them apart!

Zenith - your boy is absolutely beautiful!
Koscha - Its definitely worth the wait, but I guess you just have to get used to waiting. You'll get there in the end though!

Lol, kitty envy.

I always wanted a tabby and white because of my friends beautiful socrates, also wanted a black/black and white because of 2 of my cats who have now passed on to the bridge. These girls just stole my heart when I walked past their pen!

I know, thats what I thought. I had assumed that they were both boys when we first saw them before I read their admission sheets. I think its something like 75% of gingers are boys.

You have to be an adult cat (20 posts?) to see uploaded pictures. But photobucket posted in threads can be viewed by anyone even non members. I discovered this when I joined.

Hi Lollylou the reason could be you haven't posted on the threads enough. I know  you have to make some many posts before you can see some pics on here, but can't remember how many  :-[ senior moment  :evillaugh:

Try making some more posts and see if you can see the pics  ;D

Are you viewing it from work? If so your work may be blocking images from photobucket which is not uncommon. Or you have a firewall setting too high. Depends .. cant you see other peoples photos?

Thats a bit odd, no-one else has posted to say whether they can see them or not. They are just hosted on photobucket so they should be ok.

I know, I hate to think what would have happened if they hadn't arrived at the centre when they did. She is far too tiny to have had to go through that! Plus the fact that they were both so skinny, I doubt if she would even have survived!

Play fights can look prettt rough some times but it is normally all in good fun.  When it gets a bit rough and one squeals they normally break up.  They are probably just enjoying their freedom at last.

I think they are definitely making the most of their freedom. They were doing laps last night, down the hallway, down the stairs, halfway back up again, through the railings, back along the hall and round the lounge, usually ending up in the zooplus box that I kept for them!

I was looking through the paperwork they came with and found the vets notes. Looks like Amber was pregnant when they did her spay. The more I think about the state they were in when they came in (very thin, pregnant and later catching possible catflu), the less I believe the old owners story that she emigrated. Doesn't seem like they were well cared for before!
