Personally I wouldn't use them in the car as I don't find the structure that great so we just use ours in the garden in the summer as a playhouse for them (just my opinion though and they would prob be fine for short journeys just to the vets and back). You can get other fabric ones with a really sturdy metal frame that fold down flat in seconds. We've got one of these as well (comes in lots of sizes so something to suit all breeds/number of cats) and find that most of the cats like it as they can see out.
