Its only known as North by Cockneys, up here its Midlands
Not only Cockneys I fear, I live in the Midlands and us round her consider Manchester as North West (ish)
We are in Derbyshire and it is known as the North Midlands.
Just looked on the net and found:- 'North West England is one of the nine official regions of England. It has a population of 6,853,200[1] and comprises five counties of England – Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire'.Although from many parts of Cheshire it would be easy to get to the Miidlands (if you drive of course) via the M6 although that could apply to Cumbria, Lancashire & Greater Manchester as well.
