Hello thanks for the feedback.
Firstly Christine as the email version is done first we usually send you a hard copy but i am all for sending it out via email saves us postage..Will do that now.
Secondly yes i realise the mistakes but it cannot be helped i think, i read it several times and so does Gillian but we always miss something..Its not teh Time so i hope that members will forgive us.

Also.. actually 14 pages is around right. We usually send this out 4 times a year and its a good PR excercise for us and i do feel its worth doing as its shows what we have been up too and how donations are used.. We do send a lot out via email and we do have a good distribution channel so many get hand delivered... The printing doesnt cost a fortune as we  have managed to get it down to a reasonable cost done by a colour laser printer.. Okay its an expense and we could do it in colour but feedback was that people where prepared to pay abit more in membership for colour, indeed some people have joined us because of the NL.... many now not getting membership from HQ but instead donate locally..

Personally i feel the money is spent in making sure whe communicate with our members and let them know what we are doing, we also make full use of the posting out as we often include other titbits of information that would be difficult to communicate to people otherwise. For instance i put in about Easter Hazards and also Julies Ebay stuff.

Thanks people for your comments though.

Forgot to add Jane isnt a pure IT bod and does a great job, and always willing to learn new things so i am sure she will take on the comments regarding the emailing out stuff.

. Only criticism might be that you need to do a spell check before finalising. Otherwise, excellent product

I know by doing newsletters that you can read it and read it but each time you so you see some mistake. put it right print one off and find another mistake, and again and again in the end I get sick and tired of running upstairs and amending. The trouble is the fingers do not do what the brain is telling them.  The trouble with spell check is that sometimes a word will not come up as incorrect as  the American and English are different spellings for some words. But as we can get the idea of what is meant even with a few mistakes to me it matters not.

Advice to Jane: put a title in the subject line of the email versions

I would agree with that.

I have just had a quick look my goodness it must cost many hundreds. We do one twice a year we must need about 600 copies, so I just do 4 A4 double sides. Even then the postage is over £100.

Christine, have you had an email from 'Jane Holness' with no title and a PDF attachment?

I normally get a hard copy, so perhaps that is on its way then  ;D

Advice to Jane: put a title in the subject line of the email versions  :Luv:

Only criticism might be that you need to do a spell check before finalising. Otherwise, excellent product!! ;D

Christine, have you had an email from 'Jane Holness' with no title and a PDF attachment?  If so that's the newsletter!  I deleted it initially as I thought it was spam, someone mentioned it in another thread otherwise I wouldn't have known either.

Sharon

I really enjoy the newsletter as it's lovely to hear all the success stories, I like the way you remember those who didn't make it too

I mention this as feedback may be thin on the ground at the moment for this reason  ;)

To those you have received our newsletter, would appreciate abit of feedback pls? Baring in mind we are not the Times Supplement. The NL is produced as a shared role and we always appreciated some feedback on what people like to see and read.  When i do the newsletter i am much more wordy then Gillian (who did most of it this time).. So rather then us think whats good and what isnt we like to know what some of  your think.. Our NL goes out to 250 odd people, and we try to keep it within the 14 page remit as its expensive to print, but we do email lots.

Thank all..

Now off to do some ironing that has stared me in the face all week.!
