It is the cat food I dont like, so I do two lots of washing up, mine and theirs (incidentally, theirs normally gets done first!!), different sponges - would be different washing up bowls if I had space for a spare one!! I never used to have issues when I only had 2 cats, but now there is so much that there wouldnt be space on hte draining board for us all. If I am low on time, theirs gets done and mine waits!! I have enough bowls for them all to have about 3 each, and I have more than I need for me too.
Please spay your cat

I dont have a dishwasher and we have lots and lots of cat dishes.

I think its the cat food that I dont like my dishes with LOL, cos franta likes the milk from my weetabix and that gets washed with other dishes.

So cat dishes all of them get washed separate.......I mean I have four cats and they use at least 8 dishes a day   and thats just for wet food!

we have another 4 dishes for dry food and two water bowls.

I don't think it's revolting, but it grosses my partner out completely. (So the cats are allowed to lick plates on the sly! :shify: )

7 cat dishes, 1 cat!!!!!

I rinse and then put in my dishwasher.

Tonight I had cheese on toast for my tea and Bonnie was looking so I held a piece out to her and she licked the tomoto sauce off it - I then ate it!  So.................  mum's put a baby's dummie in their mouth when it's been in a baby's mouth and on the floor!!

The cats said why shouldn't they eat off Denby?  :evillaugh:

Denby? I remember collecting Denbyware crockery in the 70s - you could get a piece (like a plate or cereal bowl) per so much spend at Keymarkets (anyone remember Keymarkets?!!) - took ages to get even just a 1 place setting LOL!

Anyway, I just wash up the cat plates at the end of my own washing up, just use a different sponge

When I finish a meal I always put my plate on the floor for the boys to lick clean.  Saves on the washing up  ;)

LOL! I do that too Susanne!

I wash my cats dishes after they have finished and leave them to drain but if the dishwasher is going on I put them in there, can't see anything wrong with that thy are thorougly washed.

when I had a dishwasher I had no problem with this - I would not, however, wash them at the same time i wash up manually. Separate cloths and separate water is the rule now ...

All cat food bowls (except fosters) go in the dishwasher along with our crockery, have never given it a second thought... and for those who have a Purrs diary, you will see I sometimes find a cat in there too!

Lexy has 5 dishes for food, plus two large water dishes. All get washed in dishwasher, old food gets scraped into bin just like my food does, and all get washed the same. I have no issues with this.

One of my cats likes to polish off any left over baby food.
This is me feeding my baby:
1. Gives baby food
2. Says to cat ' no this isn't yours get down '
3. Gives Baby food
4. Says to cat ' no this isn't yours get down '
5. Gives Baby food
6. Says to cat ' no this isn't yours, get down '.

Until we reach 10 when Babby is finished, and cats gets sweetcorn and parsnip or whatever baby is eating that she wouldn't go near if I put it in her bowl.

I wash up in burny-hands -water tho, and babbys stuff goes into the steriliser.

It's funny, I think nothing of cats licking gravy off a plate or something, but I'd have never done that with the family dog. Maybe because they lick their ars*s more ?

I wash Oliver's bowls with ours too, dishwasher or hand wash, either way.  He does get to lick clean my plate if there is some cream or gravy left over.

Memphy's bowl gets washed the same way as I wash my plate ... hot water a bit of fairy and a sponge (the same sponge everyone uses). It's clean water after all. I don't see any harm in it.

lay me down, let me go, feeling heavy the ground is cold,
lay me down take it slow I'm ready to stumble, sing & then swing low

Ewww yick!! I know there's not really any reason why you shouldn't, but my cat stuff stays in the utility room well away from my personal dishes.  I might put them through the dishwasher from time to time but only if I've washed them up first of all.  Just can't bear the thought of little bits of cat food swishing round with my cutlery

They get swilled first  :Luv:

Not at all Mark.

Though I do  just pour boiling water in their dishes to clean them. I have put them in the dishwasher in the past.  And if I am doing my work sarnies have some left over tuna or salmon then i put it on one of our saucer or plate.

Anyway Zubi snogs me and licks my face so it's no difference face - plate  :Luv:

After dishing up her wet food pouch I always scrap out the last of the gravy and let Willow lick it off the teaspoon before putting it in the dishwasher, but I never do it in front of visitors as I have several that would likely bring their own spoon next time they popped in for coffee

Hey, we eat off the SAME plate. I have my dinner on one half, Jake has his cat food on the other. It's only cat spit...  :shy:

haha - as long as he doesn't lick his bum before we sit down...

I have about 12 dishes & plates that are for the cats but having four cats and 2 that reject a lot of meals, I often run short of clean dishes as I put them in the dishwasher until it is full. When I run out, I use our saucers and sometimes our sideplates too. I know some people won't even wash cat dishes with their own stuff but I don't see a problem with it as I have it on the hottest wash - Is that disgusting?  :evillaugh:
