WHAT IS THIS CAT!? please help.

On the subject of collars,  lot of us don't use them, because our cats are microchipped, which I am sure would be the case if it is indeed a well-bred oriental. Collars can cause more problems than they are worth getting hooking in things and with cats getting their legs hooked into them. They can also cause permanent distortion of the hair around the neck which is not a good look if the cat is being shown ....

My first and only thoughts are of an oriental spotted, perhaps not the best "show" specimen but looks like a sweetie pie all the same

With that face, the svelte body shape, whippy tail, large wide set ears and the insistent and slightly gravelly miaow, I'd say Oriental, in this case a spotted tabby.

No, it has definitely not been photoshopped or done that camera thing. We have already sent the photos to the wildcat association thing who confirmed it was not at all wildcat and said he thought it would be oriental. Could it really be inbreeding. there probably are only limited numbers of cats in the place we were. oh well any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

I think it looks like a trace, you know when you take a pic with a digi cam and the subject moves, maybe thats whats happened?

Looks like a Bengal to me too, I thought SWC were long haired?

I think we can safely rule out a wildcat connection, unless, as MM says, it has some bengly in it - but that would make the 'inbreeding' argument that much less sustainable ...

Really sorry but the files are too large to paste or attach to this but if any cat experts or breeders are interested they could post their emails and i could send you the photos, anyway.

We recently encountered this cat just outside Torphin in Edinburgh, near the city bypass and the Pentlands. It had a long face with a very pronounced 'snout'. It was tortoiseshell looking and had a very strange miaow.

I know it isn't a Scottish wild cat but could you tell us what breed you think it is?

It was clearly domesticated and very friendly but also had exceptionally long teeth. It didn't have a collar which we thought was odd if it is indeed some rare breed pet cat.

Any information would be much appreciated.
