She wants £200 for the Persian, said she isn't for breeding and is worth £450, not sure if she's been done or not but it's unlikely  :sneaky:  She said she should be parting with the Bengal really but she's worth more  >:(

Dawn, you are utterly GREAT!!! :) I definately think you should change the little girl on preloveds name though - her current one really doesn't suit her!

I didn't notice her name, what is it  :shify:

Thanks Lesley, hubby will have a dicky fit  :scared:  but I've just emailed her about the Persian asking how much she wants for her.  If I can get her, I will do.

Okay, let me know the damage - hubbys can then have dicky fits together

I've just spoken to her and if I can get her this evening, I can have her.  She said someone is interested but they've been messing her about and keep changing the days of when they can go over.  She's also got a persian she may be selling as her Bengal keeps picking on her  >:(  >:(  Wish she hadn't have give me that bit of info  :(  She's going to email her address etc so as soon as I hear, we can get things moving   :)

Modified  I've now got her address  :)

I could do it!  I'm in Manchester and as I'm not working at the moment, I could do it any day.    I could drive there and bring her back to Manchester area.

That's great Susanne, I'm only an hour from Manchester so that's not a problem.  As soon as I get hold of the lady, I'll let you know    Thanks to everyone who's offered to help, hopefully we'll get her before she ends up in the wrong hands

You're a star Suzanne - it would obviously be much less stress for her to not be passed around.  I'll gladly contribute to the petrol fund for her.  I can still be back up for next weekend if for whatever reason it can't be done.

Have contacted lady asking for phone number and address. As soon as I have it I'll PM both you and Dawn.

I could do it!  I'm in Manchester and as I'm not working at the moment, I could do it any day.  I don't know Sheffield (except for Meadowhall!) but I can read a map!  I could drive there and bring her back to Manchester area.  I would have to take her straight to Dawn's (if that's where she's going) as I have no room here for another cat, even overnight.

If you are struggling to find someone Dawn, I could do all the journey, but would prefer not too (and it would have to wait until next weekend).  Hope she's a better traveller than one of mine - it's a bad enough journey just getting him to the vets - what with his howling to be released and inappropriate toiletting habits!  ;D

I'll see if I can get someone to do a direct run from Sheffield, I think that would probably be easier than taking her here, there and everywhere   :shy:  I'll try and sort something out to get over there.  From where I am, I'll be looking at about 90 miles away so possibly a couple of hours journey.  I think if she goes to Chesterfield and no one locally can take her, the journey is going to be even longer again getting her to where I am  :shy:

So, if someone can get her from Sheffield to Chesterfield, Smokey can do the run from Chesterfield to either Buxton or Stoke.  If there is no other transport available,  I can pick up from there to somewhere on the M56 corridor for Dawn to collect for the remaining journey.  Stoke would be easier for me being straight down the M6 but looking at Multimap it looks a longer journey for her.

*If* she can't be rehomed locally, and looking at the journey involved that would obviously be preferable.  Is Ela Chesterfield CP?  Maybe she has contacts who could help out with transporting the first leg if nothing can be found locally for puss.

Let me know.

I could do the run from Chesterfield part way to Manchester (Bakewell/Buxton/Stoke/Uttoxeter etc...) if someone could pick up?

It does seem that we're taking this one an awfully long way round though. Wouldn't it be best to rehome her locally? I can ask if there's room at Scarcliffe, they may take her on and then it's only a short trip to Chesterfield and not all the way to Wales.

I don't mind helping and I won't ask money for petrol, I'd rather it went to helping the cats but it does seem like a rather complicated solution.

DD, all I have is an email addy and a postcode. I asked for a full address but didn't get it - and I haven't told her about rescue involvement. I was kind of reluctant to because some people are really stubborn regarding that issue!

I've made a transport request on another forum. If we can get the little one to mine, she's welcome to stay until the weekend when people are free. :)

If there aren't any other options, the earliest I can do any run over there will be next weekend but I can help out on a shorter run at night so Dawn doesn't have to do it all.  I've no leave left at work so doing a run on a weekday isn't an option.

If someone can get the cat part way either Manchester or Chester, someone has kindly offered to cover the fuel costs if that's any help.  JS, have we got an address or email address for this lady and does she know I will take her?  If needed, I may see if I can get over there within the next couple of days, only problem being I am up to my eyes in it

I've been concerned about the journey - but she doesn't look very old so the disruption will bother her for a lot less time than an old timer!  ;)

Believe me, you wouldn't want me on the roads! :P

Can you not learn quickly?!?   Which bit of Sheffield is she in?  Do you think the current owner be prepared to drop her with you or possibly travel north to Huddersfield to help us out?

Unless anyone else can help with getting her to Chesterfield?  I've double checked on multimap and it is quite a way for me to get to Sheffield/Chesterfield (and a heck of a journey that she is going to be going on here!!!).

JS, can you get her from Sheffield to your place?

If someone can then get her from Chesterfield to the Manchester ring road motorway (M60 or thereabouts) - I can do the run from there to say Chester or anywhere near there if that is easy for Dawn to get to?  If not then I could come over to Chesterfield but it would have to be next weekend now.

Hope that helps.

I can look after her for a week or so if it makes organising transport easier.

I could help out on transport if needed - but I could only do it at weekend, or at night after work.  Unfortunately couldn't keep her overnight, so would have to pass her on in the same journey.  I'm probably about an 90mins from Sheffield (I'm in Lancs) so if I have to go to Sheffield would prefer not to go to collect her unless it would be at weekend.  I can be a go between for any other legs of the journey though on any night.

Yes Ruth, pay phone thats what it is , couldnt think thats why i put phone box. :thanks:

But in ads they always require a land line number and some time people put pay phones or other numbers cos the free ad on some papers allow you only limited number of ads and they check the land number for that, if that is the case then there should be a mobile number as well.

BT aren't as mean as they could be. If you still have an account but can't pay BT will still permit 999 calls to go out, but that's it. Until they shut it down completely. Julie, if its an old number the providers rotate them so often that if its no longer in use it gets added to the list of new numbers for new customers, so its either dead, or the "that number has not been recognised" message will run. I strongly suspect its got a block like a payphone.  Some boarding houses, hostels etc have payphones, so it could be in a location like that.

I hope this lady contacts you either way. Poor little baby.
