Oh my goodness, extremely mixed reviews!!  But all in all as I suspected it doesn't seem to last as long as they claim them to be, so probably not a very economical solution, especially if it doesn't do the job as they say... :shify: :shify: :shify:

We use City Cat - it doesn't last 4 weeks, more like 2 with Dinah, though she wees a lot due to her CRF. I think it really does stop smells though.  When you change the litter the smell really hits you though  :sick:

I've tried it, and in this 4 indoor cats household it just didn't do the job.

I hated that litter! I used the Crystal Clear one, and in a multicat household it was awful! It didnt absorb odours and it certainly doesnt last as long as it reckons. It very quickly loses its so called absorbing powers and starts to smell. Never again! It was just an experiment - but I went straight back to a good clumping litter, what a relief all round LOL!  ;D

We use this sort of litter, its called innovation litter from a company called Crystal Clear Pets and TBH I dont think I could use anything else now, we find it fantastic and we are a multicat household.

The silicate litter is great if you are selling your house, as it absorbs ALL smells so even the most sensitive nose is not offended. But if you want low smell, and long lasting, then I would go for the sawdust based products every time - more economical and long-lasting and no smell if you keep them neat.

I've used the silica one and it wasn't any better with the odour than any other I've tried, and certainly didn't last longer than any other, for me anyway

I use silicate litter in my outdoor litter trays and the only one I have found that is any good is a Bob Martin one called 'ultimate odour control' that comes in a cardboard box and looks like polystyrene beads. It absorbs liquids really well and it even absorbs the smell of Boopy's wee!!

We have been using sandy clumping litter fills of Tidy Cats/Scoop Away type, which I always used with Hobbes back in the 90s and I just went straight for them with Oliver.  However they are rather rare and hard to find in Italy, instead I see those "silicated" litter fill, which I am not at all familiar with personally, being quite popular.  We have been considering about it but not quite sure, they are all sold in smallish bags and don't look like would last too long at all for Oliver, who is a hearty eater and poos accordingly.  (wee too, don't know where it comes from as he is not at all a big drinker! :Crazy: )  They do say and will last for about 4 weeks for 1 cat, as well as all sort of magical things like it will absorb odours and germs quickly and effectively and lock themselves into granules and the liquid evaporates etc. etc.  There are several different products but I believe they are pretty much equivalent to

Has anyone tried this type of litter fills?  Are they indeed the wonder fills as they call themselves to be?
