*** UPDATE *** !!!!

Well, I spent a wonderful hour with these two little cats this afternoon - and what characters they are! (more than makes up for the 2 hour, 70 mile round trip!)

And the good news is that they are now reserved for me!

The centre is going to phone my local centre in order to get the information about my home check, and they are also going to call our vet to check the vaccination status of our current cat. One of the cats still needs a slight de-matt and microchipping and they have also never been vaccinated and so it was suggested that I collect them in 3 weeks! I have offered to get my own vet to vaccinate at my expense - once the checks are done, I want these fellas home with me asap! As it is, it'll be an agonising wait until next weekend. . . . .

Okay - I suppose you'll want to know about them: they are called Alfie & Wilf and are 5 years old. They are HUGE - they both weigh over 6kg each - a really healthy weight for a large, cobby male persian! They have paws the size of tiger cubs! They are open faced with amazing amber eyes. Alfie is more 'strawberry blonde' but Wilf  is darker red. They are friendly chaps; they both enjoying chasing a bit of screwed up paper that I skittered around the room for them. Alfie has a bit of a weird habit of licking plastic (mind you, previous persians of mine have had fetishes for warm leather shoes and rubber . . . .) but they are both inquisitive, chilled out cats. I didn't want to leave them but had to as the centre was closing! As I walked past the pens, they came dashing out of the cat-flap, up to the bars and meowed - so there; that was it; as far as I am concerned, they have chosen me  :briggin:

My other half is away for the weekend and has taken the digital camera and so I attempted to take some pics using my rubbishy mobile phone - hope you get the idea from these!

I am floating on cloud nine!!! :Luv2:

Crossing your fingers/paws.etc, may have helped!

I've just had a call to say the first interested person has now said they are NOT interested . . .  so I am just about to find my car keys, grab a map and head over to Hastings!

Keep them crossed - more later!!!!

Morning - I've had a long chat with my other half this morning - he and my daughter are going away for the weekend and so I am going to be home alone  . . . and possibly with the task of meeting these cats without them, too!  He knows that there may be a chance that he comes home to two new additions to the family!

I didn't sleep well - I know that there is a chance that these little cats will be rehomed to someone else before I get to even see them but it's like I've been saying all along - if we are patient something right will turn up. Well, I've been looking for 4 months now and not only are these cats red  :Luv2: but they are in the same county, too  .. . . . . . .  a bonus to someone who even considered traveling from Brighton to Scotland at one point!!

Anyway, keep all your bits crossed and I will let you know when I do . . . . . .

Thanks!!!

NEWSFLASH . . . .

Please keep your fingers crossed for me, everyone!

I mentioned that I had heard about the RSPCA having a pair of Persians up for adoption in Sussex  . . . well, I finally found out some more about them this afternoon and guess what - they are open faced and RED!!!    :Luv:  :Luv:  :Luv:  Well, one is dark red and the other is red and white. Five years old, neutured, to be re-homed due to a change in the owner's circumstances, apparently very affectionate and full of character.

It all sounds a little too good to be true - and it may well be as sadly for me (but good for them) , they already have a provisional reserve on them. However, the other interested party is not sure they want to take on two Persians (they just want one) but the RSPCA are not prepared to split them as they are devoted to one another.  . . . . so in many ways, I am keeping my fingers (and everything else) crossed.

I've just spoken to my local RSPCA branch (who know me as 'the Persian lady' - although they might prefix with 'mad' when I am out of earshot  :evillaugh: ) and they are happy to dig out my home-check records to send over to this other rescue centre so that I can be 'vouched for.'

I was tempted to drive over tomorrow morning to see these little cats but I just know that I will fall in love with them and if they are then homed to the first person, I will be heartbroken! So, the rescue centre is going to call me tomorrow when they have heard from the other people (the reserve ends at 4pm . . .)

Anyway . . . . more later, perhaps!

I was doing my usual search last night - looking at the websites of rescue centres, etc - and found out that there are a pair of Persians in Hastings (I live in Brighton, so it's a bonus that they are in the same county, at least!) No picture and they are closed on a Thursday so will have to dash home from work and call them tomorrow afternoon to find out some more . . . . .

But this little chap looks very sweet - slightly sad looking and obviously of some love, but hey, that's what we are here for! What colour do you think he is officially?!

Harna, would this young man do? If you are willing to travel to the Dudley/Telford areas!

He's just over a year old, friendly with other cats, and currently in the care of Stourbridge (I think ) CP. If you are interested I can tell you his story. He has had 2 homes lined up but both fell through, although there may be another interested so you'll need to move quickly! :)

Hello - sorry, not been around due to family illness  . . . . plus I forgot my password  :-[

Anyway, the search is still on!

Alexgirl - thanks for the thought but it is really important to us that the cat we adopt is happy to live in a multi-cat household; not only for its own happiness but so that we don't put our existing cat's nose out of joint . . . .  which, come to think of it, is the wrong turn of phrase to use in regards to a persian cat  ;D ;). Seriously, though - we are looking for another to be a companion to the cat who is already well established in our home . . . . I do hope that your cat finds someone very soon (I'd have every single one if I could but I don't think I'd have a marriage at the end of it. I know I am destined to be the neighbourhoods 'mad cat woman' but am hoping that will be in about 50 years time, not just yet!)

Harna, I know we have a persian in our branch who has been in long term foster with us as she/he isn't keen on other cats, and not many people are willing to take on a persian. Please PM me if you would like me to make enquiries for you. :)

Yes, i know the feeling -i have rescued/rehomed about a dozen in the 10 years i have lived here and given a home to 4 myself.
I also have a few visitors at night even though they belong to people -just come for as fuss and a snack i think !
I just feel sorry for them when they are out allnight in the cold and my 4 are nice and warm -2 in their beds , 1 in bed with a snugglepad and 1 superglued to the rug in front of the fire and does not move until i switch it off !

I'm in Buckinghamshire so West is pretty easy for mer, I have had an offer from once place but I want to investigate further - I don't want the poor girl to end up in a more difficult situation, ideally I'd like a home from home but I don't think that is going to happen

can't remember the exact criteria of this but I had a call Tuesday night from a friend with a 2 year old female blue persian that she wants to rehome, she is in Ruislip Middlesex but I could help with transport - she says all local rescues don't have space - doe anyone have any ideas?

Has she tried Joe Clements? - its Wiltshire, don't know if thats any good? http://www.cat-society-chinchilla.org.uk/rescue.htm or Isabel at persian rescue in Bristol? http://persianrescue.co.uk/

I think Cheryl will take her -she has room at the present .
I did think about taking another one -but can''t do it yet now due to Smarties vet bill and a bit of time for him to get over the op.
You will have to email Cheryl- the phone is always saying message box full -but she does answer to emails pretty quick and there is some option to use to take cats in on the website too.

They are lovely but I really don't think they are full persians - not that it matters :Luv:

They are more persiany than Gemma! who looks more DLH to me.
I like the look of older types much more than the modern ones iv met  :Luv:
