I am sorry to hear that, it must be so hard not knowing,

You've made a really positive step at resucing another furry, who although won't be able to replace your lovely Smudge,  will make you
happy in different ways :Luv:

4th Sept 2007 and yes it still is heartbreaking but I've adopted a 10 yr old from RSPCA and she is getting me through it.  I still get calls from people who see my posters and I will never give up on him.

Same here, which is difficult, because its natural to want to talk about how you're feeling, particularly to your other half. :(

I think the only people who understand are the ones who have really experienced the love of a pet and all the joy they bring to your life. :Luv2:

What a truly heart warming poem, it really sums up how you feel if you've let a cat into your heart. :Luv:

I find it so frustrating/upsetting/annoying that people can't comprehend what you're going through if you've lost your furry loved one.
I have found it particularly soul destroying that my own husband has been unsupportive since i lost my lovely Willow.
He simply cannot identify with my grief and how much i am missing Willow. And that in turn has soured my feelings for him to some extent.

Willow was in my heart and my life long before he came along, and will continue to be in my heart for a long long time........

That's awful Michelle - even my mates who are not as addicted to animals as me, know how I feel about Smudge and they've been great - strangely enough, it's my mum and brother who have been the  :censored: :censored:.  At least we've all got each other on Purrs

If any of my friends said that to me they wouldn't be my friends for long  :(

Anyone who has enjoyed the love of any animal would never ever refer to them as 'just a cat/dog/whatever', and its the I feel sorry for, as they are missing out on something wonderful  :shy:

My Smudge is 14 tomorrow and he is still missing - I fell out with someone big style because they said 'how can you get so upset and depressed over JUST A CAT - That someone was my own mother just before Christmas.

I had the same thing when i lost my first cat to an RTA, I was talking to my best friend going over what had happened, trying to work out how the women had hit her and if Star had suffered. My best friend turned to me and she " for God sake Shell  its just a cat at the end of the day, its not a murder investigation"   :censored:

So true Michelle  :Luv2:

Because of "just a Cat", I will rise early,  and look
longingly to the future.

Reminds me of a homecheck I did recently, the lady was widowed and had recently lost her cat. She said "She used to spend the day in the garden and come in by the time it was dark and we would spend the evening together watching TV"

She said she was so upset, she vowed she couldn't go through it again but in the end, she missed having a reason to get up in the morning and even missed cleaning the tray  :Luv2:

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Just A Cat

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a Cat,"
or, "that's a lot of money for just a Cat."
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the
costs involved for "just a Cat."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a Cat."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a Cat,"
but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a Cat,"
and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a Cat" gave me
comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a Cat," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."

"Just a Cat" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.

"Just a Cat" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a
better person.

Because of "just a Cat", I will rise early,  and look
longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a Cat" but an embodiment of
all the hopes and dreams of the future,
the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a Cat" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a Cat",
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being
"just a man or woman."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a Cat"
just smile...
because they "just don't understand."
