Olly has been a bad boy today,he climbed 3 stairs and when I carefully lifted him down he spotted some chicken I had on a worktop as a treat, the little terror somehow stood on his hind legs trying to reach said chicken.During his long periods of cage rest he has been keeping himself amused with body building techniques (eating) and singing. This little man has an enormous character hidden within his scrawny frame. :)

Oh dear: another feisty little one that I have fallen in love with  :Luv2:

Olly is continuing to make progress and manages several steps at a time now, his back leg seems to be stronger and rarely folds in under him He discovered chicken yesterday and Aunty Claire cuddles today and is one highly delighted boy who thinks all his dreams have come true  :)

Which, of course, they have  :Luv:

And at least he is with people who can see that he is a boy!

aww, wonderful to hear that 'he' is doing well. We took in 11mo brother and sister (unneutered) a few weeks ago, and i did express surprise at no kittens - turns out they were sisters, can't believe she had had them for 8/9months and not noticed!!

My goodness Teresa, these were vets ?

Mind you when I first took Kocka to the vet they said Kocka was a girl, when she went back next time they said she was a boy!  I gave up and kept her as a girl and she was also registeed with insurance as a girkl.

Many years later, and my vet always called her a she  at my request, I saw some aussie vet when she was really ill and he came out with her and to my horror called her poor little chap! Despite telling him that she was always known as a she, he shut his ears  >:(

I am sure Holly knows exactly what identy he/she wants and of course Holly can be a male or female name  ;D

Forgot to mention when I brought Holly home I thought I had gone mad when I saw her back end so I got  the vet to take a look this morning; it seems the beautiful girl is indeed a very handsome Boy.  :) I am at a loss as to how he could be shaved from waist downwards, undergo major surgery and spend over 3 weeks hospitalisation without anyone noticing.

Holly saw the vet this morning and her problems stem from nerve damage and thankfully all is progressing normally, vet says probably be another 5 weeks before we see real improvement. She has some extra medication and will go back next week for a check up.

Will be taking Holly to meet my vet tomorrow; am concerned about the muscle wastage and the fact her leg keeps folding in under her; so I want to make sure that everything is as it should be.
She is enjoying her food and loves being stroked as she lies spread out on her posh new vet bed.

I hadn`t met Holly until today and the vet nurse took us into a huge consulting room and brought Holly in on a fleecey blanket which she placed on the floor. I sat on the floor to introduce myself  and Holly refused to attempt to walk. Some 10 minutes later after she had enjoyed a jolly good fuss she spotted the cat carrier behind me,amazingly she stood up walked over to the carrier and attempted to get herself in; their wasnt a dry eye in the room it was as if Holly had said you`ll do .
She`s got a long way to go but she will get there I am certain.

Dawn F the complications were of the unsavoury human variety.

Olly the Lancs cat now promoted
« Reply #1 on: January 28, 2008, 15:37:31 PM »
Sorry I havent been able to update on this little one before now, things were not as straightforward as they first appeared and in order to protect Holly and do things legally I had to keep quiet.

Holly had a badly fractured pelvis that needed a Sacral Illiac pin fitting, she has struggled to put weight on her leg and has a little muscle wastage.
The Good News is that she has now been discharged from the vets and is currently settling in here, though she will need further surgery at a later date.
This girl owes her life to Purrs and I`m sure she would like to send you all lots of furry headbutts.
