If you paid for the tests Des they cant refuse, cos they are yours and you could take legal action against them. You have the law on your side also under the data protection act, all you have to do its put the request in writing. If they try to charge you a small fee , they again would be in breach as you have already paid for them.

If they do not comply then they are breaking the law and should be reported to the vets regulatory body and also the department for fair trading.

I got a copy of Max's recent blood and wee results recently, I asked for a print off and they obliged, no questions asked .... I assumed that would be the norm if you've paid for the tests in the first place?

Charlie's new vet gives you paper copies of the blood test results.  I have never asked for copies of the records but they have been transferred between vets without difficulties.  I think you should be entitled to a copy of the blood test result as you have paid for it

Glad to hear Ollie is doing well - my vets wont give me paper copies of blood test results, and when I swapped from the rescues vet back to my own, they said they only give notes when requested (and it was never necessary, cos only Pebbles had been seen, and we didn't have to deal with her nose again).

I will be getting Ollie's case notes next Wed so I'll see whats been said then  :shify:

My VN said if I had  asked the pdsa for them myself they would of had to ask the main office and after that it would have to go to a commity and it would of took a long time to get them because they dont usually give people their pets notes. Then she said as they have been handed over to them and they do give people their pets notes I can have a copy of them  :sneaky:

I wonder why the pdsa dont give out case notes? Surely it's a legal right?

Ollie is doing well, he has found a sunny spot in the garden and likes to lie there, even though it's in the mud

They cannot refuse you copies of the notes but usually find it easier to send them direct to the new vets.

Cant remember which Act now but the law says you are must be allowed to see all information about you and that includes your cats. Its either and probably, Freedom of Information Act, rather than Data Protection Act.

This will go for copies of all test results too because in this case you have paid for the tests so those results are yours.

On case notes they are allowed to charge a small fee, probably £10 at maximum and any problems citizens Advice Bureau should be able to help.

My vet in London send copies of Kockas notes to my new vets and when Kocka died it took me a long time to get a copy of them but I did.

Great to hear how well he is doing  ;D

The vets around here have no problem sharing notes. Vets now have to forward notes to your regular vet so if they can do it normal surgeries should manage it!

Great news so glad Ollie is enjoying munching his biscuits.  Glad too that you ignored the PDSA vet.  They wanted to put my neighbour's cat to sleep when she went blind, despite the fact that she was still enjoying life and not in the least distressed.  He wouldn't allow it and she lived a few months more happily.

Ollie is fine, he's eating biscit treats, something he has never done before, he has a nice coat and smelly breath is gone, also being  :naughty: from time to time.  ;D

I actually have a tear in my eye reading this  :Luv:  Well done CC and  to Ollie: he must feel so much better it's hard to imagine.

Glad Ollie is responding so well, that really is super news  ;D :Luv:

That goodness you didn't take the original PDSA vet advice and sought a second opinion.  I wonder how many people take their word as gospel when perhaps they shouldn't  :(

Would I be allowed Ollie's file from the pdsa? Would my vets have got it off them? I just thinking as you can with doctors lol.

Ollie at vets yesterday, got his biopsy report back- it's not cancer, it's gingivitis a hypoplasmic kind that can be controlled with steroids. The vet said it looks like his mouth is responding to the steroids and it's getting under control. He gave Ollie an anti-b jab to get rid of the last of the infection. He still has to have 2 steroids a day for the next 2 weeks then he goes back. I nearly died when I paid the bill 46 quid.

I asked him wether there would be a chance of Ollie getting better if he hadn't had his teeth removed, the vet said no. It was a constant infection and the gingivitis was not getting treated because the infection was always formost. So nobody can tell me that the pdsa are propper vets, they would of know what to do if they were. I'm so  :censored: annoyed with them!!!!

Ollie is fine, he's eating biscit treats, something he has never done before, he has a nice coat and smelly breath is gone, also being  :naughty: from time to time.  ;D

I'd follow Roz's advice and give the vet a call.  I can well imagine Ollie's mouth might be swollen after all those teeth extractions but best to be on the safe side.

Hi CC

Great to hear that Ollie is on the mend but I have absolutely no idea about the swelling. I think you should give the surgery a call in the morning just to put your mind at ease.   I'm sure all ops result in bruising etc but......not sure how long the swelling after such an op would last. He did have lots of teeth removed though so that would be quite traumatic to the mouth/jaw area.

Hope it's nothing to worry about.

Well done Ollie

Lots of love

Roz
