He's fine, just a bit sleepy  ;D

He's had all his molars and pre molars out and the roots. Maybe more as the nurse said the vet will know more.

The bloods dont know about yet as the vet hasnt written it up yet ( I asked for his bloods to be taken to test his kidneys and liver because of the steroids ) And the cost at the moment is £189, Well worth it and Im so pleased I've been able to do this for him.

I hope he's ok, 3.45 pick up time  :scared:

I expected Clapton's tongue to hang out but it doesn't. He still tried to do all the things he did when he had teeth. Gumming grass, grooming is no problem except he can't get the sheaths off his claws. He is none the wiser  :Luv2:

I suppose Im just worried about the after, the pain, the getting used to no teeth but I suppose it's better than the pain he would of suffered if he was not treated.

Old Mog has no teeth and it doesn't stop her! I wasn't even aware until she went for a vet visit and he said "oh, she's got no teeth!" :shy: She's never had any trouble eating dry or wet and still loves crunchy treats. (She is a little odd, though!) She's currently sat on my knee headbutting my arm, actually!

Good luck, Ollie! ;D

Yep he will have a jab but it wears off after 24hrs or so. In a big dental you often get some oral metacam to follow on with, Simon enjoyed his very much as its honey flavoured, yum yum  ;D

True,

I think my vet didn't want to give Clapton too much re CRF

Hopefully the vet will give him a shot of Metacam but it might be worth asking as not all vets are too concerned with pain relief. Clapton had one shot on the day and another a few days later when he went for a check up.

Good luck - I'm sure it will all be fine

Good luck for today - a/d should be a set price, as it is the price the manufacturers set,

Prices vary as I pay less than what my friend pays at her vets.

Good luck for today - a/d should be a set price, as it is the price the manufacturers set, You can only buy in cans of 24 online, so best to get it from your vet. I have never used it after a dental though, I normally cook them chicken for the first night, and they are generally eating normal food again by the day after (or with some of my cats, teh same night). Snowy had a large amount of teeth out in one go, and was hte only cat to struggle straight after, but it was a different vet, and they did a different anaesthetic, so I suspect that was the prob. Ginger had 6 out in one go, refused the soft food I had bought and asked to go out - but you could still see the anaesthetic in his eyes!!
Please spay your cat

It's usually round about £1.25 a tin but obviously it depends on your vet and it depends on how much Ollie eats as it's only a small tin   :shy:  I think you can buy it online but I've only ever bought it from the vets.  I usually feed mine this for about 3 days after the op, some cats don't eat alot of food straight away with their mouths being sore but Billy wolfed all his food down as soon as I got him home  ;)

Hills A/D is a convalescing food, it's a bit like Pate and is very soft and palatable so won't hurt his gums.  You can get it from your vets.

Thanks peeps  :Luv:

I know it's the right thing to do I have no doubts in my mind, I have already been too cruel to him by listening to crap vets and letting it go on for this long. It has been a case of I dont know what I got till it's gone, nearly  :(

I suppose Im just worried about the after, the pain, the getting used to no teeth but I suppose it's better than the pain he would of suffered if he was not treated.

I just hope me little black boy can recover from this and he gets a pain free life, after all he does deserve it.

It's a case of "cruel to be kind" CC - Clapton is a new cat since he had his last teeth out. He is so much healthier and happier - so will Ollie be
It really won't take long for him to feel the benefit - it will be a new lease of life.
