Me neither, I think that colour is just the society that we live in, it is a lot about looks, and if you go to a shelter that has a large amount of cats, something has to help your decision, and you can't always make one on their personality. We had a woman last week who wanted a black cat and wouldnt consider anything else, she ended up with 2 pure blacks we had!! I personally wouldn't opt for a black and white or a tortie, but then I have never truly picked a cat, they seem to find me, so it doesn't really matter what I would prefer!!

No, I dont have any stigma's with black cats, which I am sure Molly is relieved about. I jsut dont remember seeing any pics of him before - I only know colors of 3 of your cats (and only cos I have seen 2 threads of yours with pics, and the one in your avatar!!).

He was at the vets yesterday and goes back next Wed.

I had a look in his mouth when the vet did and it's nowhere near as bad as it has looked, the redness I mean. He's starting on Preidistone (sp) tablets on Wed as he cant come off the steroids straight away and guess what they only cost 4p a tablet.

Also get 2 free consults after a dental. Ahh my vets are great.

Oh I have not told them to stick it........ yet  :sneaky: Im going to see how Ollie is first and help him get better, then compose everything in my head, which is a lot to remember exactly and write a letter of complaint. Im disgusted with them in all the untruths they have told me. I was greatful for their help dont get me wrong but it just got to the point where they wern't willing to give Ollie the help he needed.

Ollie is ok, he's eat and seems ok. Im getting a slap if I touch him other than his head.

On no what am I going to do- Ollie is a naughty cat and he's just going to go back to being  :naughty: normal now

Pics are on me lappy so will do some later.  :)

....the PDSA have always led you to believe tooth extraction plus his condition would not be the answer.....Hmmm!!!

The PDSA aren't as much of a help as people think sadly. I use their Petaid scheme and last year Old Mog was on it - the only thing she needed was her T4 test, and they wouldn't pay for it! (Thankfully I'd saved the money because I had a feeling they wouldn't.)

It does make me wonder which of my cats to put on the scheme, because they have loopholes regarding most areas of treatment!

Glad Ollie is doing well. :) Pics please!

I am new here and so shouldn't add to this. But toothless? I have had so many toothless 'wonders'.........

One lost them on her own. Others the vets have taken.  But never has there been a problem. They seemed relieved (well, except for those for whom it was medically necessary - i.e. the teeth weren't bad to start with... and it did hurt. And there was a time of convalescence.)  I was the one with worries. I will not speak of them 'bouncing back' - that's what cats do, regardless of how they feel. But their behaviour... I would have wished them not to have dry food... yet (because we have that available for others) they chose it. And have done well. I still wish they wouldn't but.. Ollie will be fine. Toothless? My greatest hunter was Brigit. Not a tooth in her mouth and yet she hauled home so many - and many that were easily half her body weight. Maybe she 'gummed' them to death .... I don't know. But she was happy and better than she had been before.

Ollie is likely already o.k. (I have come late). Being toothless is not a bad thing. Sometimes it's the best thing - being free of all that discomfort.

Good on you Ollie!

It sounds like CCs vet has a sensible approach to pain relief, of which I heartily approve.

If Ollie has eaten and seems OK in himself, that is a great sign, CC.  What a little trooper!  Keep up the pain relief: we gave Blip Metacam by mouth for a week after her dental (on the advice of our vet).

  to you all.

hope you soon feel better Ollie. My Jonty had all his remaining teeth out about three months ago and was so much better for it. The Metacam worked wonders and he was soon eating and racing around.

Great news CC - did you get some metacam? - I found as Clapton's jab wore off, he wasn't so willing to eat - but didn't last for long.

Me too Mark with Freddie. He's bound to be a little sore for a short time. He's had A LOT of teeth out.

I wish someone had warned me tbh coz I was a wee bit concerned but Freddie was right as rain after a couple of days.

Big hugs to Ollie. Brave little man.

He's home  :) And eaten already.

He's had everything from the fangs removed so about 16 teeth. All in one go. I have to take him back tomorrow to get another painkiller jab and to see how he's doing. They also took a biopsey to see what they are actually dealing with so if he needs meds still they know exactly what to give him.  :)

He seems ok in himself.
