Thanks Helen, have just checked Pinnacle, their premiums are much higher than AXA or Healthy Pets, 3 levels of cover £2k / £4k / £6k with limits per condition of £500 per condition on the £2k annual cover.
Plus excess at £80 per claim, AXA are £50
To me AXA seems the best at this stage, thanks everyone.

A few of us have switched to Axa recently, they seem to offer the best level of cover at a reasonable price. 

As others have said per year is the 'best' type of policy.  If you have young cats that will live for a minimum of 15 years you have the equivalent of £105,000 worth of cover (15 years @ £7000 each and every year).  Whereas by comparison a policy that gives you £7000 per condition for life (presuming your cat might develop a maximum of 4 different conditions over it's lifetime) gives you £28,000 worth of cover.

I am fairly certain AXA is, as long as you continue the monthly payments - miss one, and it might invalidate your cover, but that is the same with any insurance.

Pepe, as both yours are youngsters, I would look for something with more per condition - an MRI could cost you £2k without any other tests before that, so you could easily get up to the lowest level and have to start paying yourself. i wouldnt go for any policy iwht less than £6k cover.

Thanks for that, I assume that AXA is for life but I would double check that the "continued cover" means just that before taking this out. I will also take a look at Pinnacle, thanks Canterbury cats.

There are basically 3 types of cover - per condition with a limit of 12 months, per condition but without a time limit, and per year.  I would always try to go fo the per year option as that gives the max amount each year to play with, even if it's for the same condition.  Avoid the first like the plague.  I can't tell what Healthy Pets offers as there doesn't appear to be a detailed breakdown of cover - it just says how much for vets fees but doesn't make it clear whether that's per condition or per year.  I've just done a quote for Mosi and it was higher than I'm paying petplan and it was for £1000 less than Mosi's petplan policy.  Make sure you read the specific exclusions properly so that you can see what is excluded.

AXA is per year, which for young cats is better than per condition, as if htey developed say hyperthyroidism at the age of 10, once you reached that £7k, they would stop paying out, whereas per year it is 'refreshed' every year, so you could spend that amoutn per year rather than over many years, if that makes sense?

I see healthy Pets is underwritten by Axa so might be worth comparing the two. Healthy Pets have the important cover which is per condition, per year rather than per condition which is a must. I need to change mine as my Lloyds TSB one is only per condition.

Thanks for that Mark, I have a quote from AXA now for £66 for the year which covers £7K vet fees, it is not "per condition" as the others but I am sure that would be OK, it also continues to cover a condition providing the premiums are kept up, so this seems quite good. Have also read the T & Cs in the policy wording and all appears OK.

Hi all
I use Pinnacle vet insurance and i would really recommend them.. They have paid out with no qualms for very large bills for both my cats. Both elderly cats. One bill over 1400 and the other a few years ago just touching 1000. They also pay for all of Bellas ongoing treatment for tablets and hopefully will pay for her teeth op yesterday which was just over 200 quid... Indeed they pay up on time and are very reliable i pay 12.00 a month for each cat, they are siamese so will pay abit more... I have used them for the last 7 years and no problems.. I think they now also do a 25 voucher to go towards yearly jabs for cats and dogs that you can take off the bill for vac... My accessi if reasonable and i usually dont claim on the vet visits that are less then 50 quid though...

Def get the life long cover.. a must

Have just adopted 2 great girls (Izabella & Freya) from Teresa at Paws Inn and we are now considering cat insurance. Can anyone recommend "Healthy Pets" they seem the best priced with 3 levels of cover and also provide cover for ongoing conditions. I have searched out some reviews which seem to read well.
Petplan quote £9.34 / month each cat for £4k of cover while HP quote £6.52 / month for £3K or £7.41 for £5k.
All are per condition per year. Any help would be very appreciated.
