some people also say that Advocate is good for flea allergy sufferers   (not sure in personal opinion).

Its the saliva itself they are allergic too... so hopefully if you keep up regular flea treatments with good brand products you should be able to minimise its severity and /or occurence.

Tigger has had flea allergys in the past, so i frontline him every month and he's been fine since, i must confess i did'nt do him last month as he's not been to well, but they don't seem to bother him in the winter.

A cat i had suffered with this too.

Make sure your home 100% clear of fleas - Use a good household spray now and then
The important thing is to keep up flea treament, which means using flea treatment every month (ie: Frontline or stronghold) and spray the house once a year.

Kocka had a flea allergy and as long as she had stronghold, no problem.

As long as they have a flea thingy that doesnt need fleas to bite to be killed they should be OK  ;D

Cpl Smokey has a flea allergy but it's fine as long as I Frontline him every month. He's a house cat which makes it easier to keep on top of but a combination of Frontline and Indorex spray around the house should keep it under control. Once the initial sores have healed it's much easier to prevent them.

I bathe him too about every 12 wks or so if it's not too cold and check for fleas when grooming. He is persian though so they're a little harder to spot.

I've not heard anything about allergies changing. I know they do with humans so I suppose they could with cats too.

Flea allergy

I noticed a sore spot on Meesha's back the other day, and although it seems to have stopped weeping (I thought she'd hurt it somehow), I noticed that today it had become raised.  So off to the vets AGAIN for poor little Meesh.  So yes, she has a flea allergy, there's another sore spot on her back that the vet noticed (my eyesight is not that good), so Meesh is now on steroids for a week to see if it helps to clear it up.  And I'm really going to have to fight those fleas with everything I can throw at them.  But it's likely to come back, isn't it?  I've read conflicting advice - some say that the allergy eases off with age, whilst others say that it gets worse with age.  I also understand that it's possible to try to desensitise them but that it isn't always successful?  Anyone got any advice on this one please?
