Hello Lesley
Thanks for your welcome. So sorry that i overlooked your post :(
Yes. Bordon is boring!
I've read all about all the loving care you give your beloved kitties and i'm full of admiration for you. It's lovely, too that you are down my neck of the woods. My rescue cats have all been golden oldies and Jonty is of unknown age but had been living rough in gibraltar before his year spent in the Sanctuary in Gibraltar. He's got Calici problems and has recently had all his teeth out, Bless.

I remember the cinema, first film I ever saw there was Annie  ;D

I originally remember Goldsworth Park circa 1979, we lived there for a year when I was nearly 4 and it was all being built around us lol  :evillaugh:

Yes, I do!  I used to go to the cinema there and to the library.
I used to work in a grotty old wooden office behind the Registry Office. I was health visiting then and hated it!!!
watched Goldsworth Park estate all being built. there were some lovely walks all round there along the canal.

If we're talking about nostalgia, do you remember Woking Centre Halls and the Swimming Baths at the end of Victoria Way, where the road went round to the left to the brown multi-storey car park?

Well, where you've got the main bit of Chobham Road, and Victoria Way intersects it, I work on the other side of Chobham Road  ;D

Pretty much all of the area you're talking about is blocks of flats now, over the last 5 years or so its really changed, as has all the area round the back of the station.

If you were to do an aerial shot on Googlemaps I doubt you'd even recognise the place?

I live up by the Police Station, assuming thats still in its original place lol!

Small world indeed  ;D

OK, I reckon you're talking about the one way system being Victoria Way (runs parallel with the canal), the road to Horsell is the start of Chobham Road, you go over the canal, then the pub is the Wheatsheaf, with Wheatsheaf common directly opposite?

hi Clare
It used to be on the corner where you leave the one way system to take the road up to Horsell. Don't know if the football field is still there, opposite a pub, but I lived down the side of the field in district nurses flats. Hope that makes sense, if not will check on a google map!! I knew St Johns very well as went to church there.

Hola Licia andOliver

Glad you've been to Gib! I lived there for 3 years as a child and now go back when I can to help out at their cat sanctuary. Flying jonty home from there makes him the most expensive rescue cat I've ever had!!

This forum is soooo good, but i'm spending far too much time on it ;D ;D ;D

Hi Linda, welcome to Purrs, nice to have another member down this way.

My brother used to live in Bordon, and I stayed with him for a while.  Unfortunately, I did end up calling it boring Bordon, but it was not at a good time in my life so that didn't help.

I now live in Gosport, with all my rescue kitties.

Hi Linda - welcome to Purrs.  I share my home with Paddy - a mature ginger and white delight, pictured left (am also hopeless with piccies ) and with Tess, a beardie cross.  Your puds are lovely - and Jonty's a jet setter, eh?  Bless, am glad to see she looks well settled in now.

So thrilled that I've found your site. I'm Linda, living in Hampshire and totally cataholic! I bow and curtsy to tortie Sweepie, 11,  and rescue cat, tabby Jonty aged?? who flew home to me 5 months ago from Gibraltar.
I have been reading thread about adding photos, but as I'm useless with that sort of thing it will probably be ages before I can add them!
I do some cat sitting and am a volunteer at a CP Adoption Center. I also help at a rescue sanctuary in Gibraltar when i can afford the air fare.
I'm so looking forward to getting to know you all and your fur babies.
Linda
