Ah right - it isn't normally passed on from mum to siblings. I am glad he is healthy regardless and that you gave him a home.

Yeah, I read its quite rare but it does happen. He was born in a rescue centre to a FIV+ Mum and stayed in that centre for two years until he was finally found a home.

:hi: Melysion and welcome to Purrs.  Think you'll like it here - everyone's a friendly bunch - most from the UK but some from other climes too.

Love Toby - what a handsome fellow he is.  ;D  Am always envious to see the piccies.  Am hopeless at tecchie things and usually have to get someone to help me with them, but I think your little lad's gorgeous!  As the others have mentioned - it's a bit of an addiction coming on here, but hope you have lots of fun finding your way around, and that we see more of the glorious Toby soon.

Welcome to Purrs, he is gorgeous. Just out of curiosity, what age was he tested for FIV? It isn't normally passed on from mother to siblings, but they will test positive up to 16 weeks of age. IF he was tested before that age, it might be worth getting him rechecked - and through Glasgow, not throuh the inhouse test (7% are false positives, and 5% are false negatives).

Sadly, he definitely has FIV as I had him retested when I first adopted him. But he has always been healthy regardless :D

:Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

Hi again, just interested to know, what was his history before he came to you?

He was born in a rescue centre to a feral cat. FIV+ from birth he stayed in the rescue centre for two years before someone took him.

But after 5 years, his previous owners couldn't take care of him anymore as they were moving abroad.

So - I adopted him into his furever home last March  ;)

Hi and  :welcome: to Purrs,

I'm sure you'll have a great time here.  We have a dedicated section on FIV / FELV http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php?board=10.0 if you have any questions about Toby's condition.

Looking forward to chatting.
