Gremlin is still at the vets. The vets think she has an imflamed bowel and thus cannot go to the loo without medication. This may clear up in a few months or due to her poor start in life, it may be that she got so thin, that there was nerve damage and thus she may not be able to go to the loo without medication.  Medication is okay for a short while but isnt a long term solution.

We are  hoping with several months of TLC and meds her insides will recover and all will be fine but they are not sure.

It may also be a genetic things as well. Although no one has any idea of how she coped at Chislet.

Gremlin is a real sweety though and everybody has fallen in love with her, even the vets are quite keen on taking her on, if the worse comes to the worse.

We are thus trying to rehome Stumpy on his own.... which is a shame. But Gremlin is going to be a long term resident in Carolines care for a few months.

Not sure our other fosterers would of been up to this, Caroline is a childrens nurse so is used to all this..

Gremlin is still the vets. Tests proved inclusive. It may be that her bad worm infection has caused her internal damage.. But apparently she is still happy and eating okay.. Berlium dye through her stomach showed that something was getting through and no blockage, but poor Gremlin dosnt seem to be able to go to loo properly without medication.

Her tummy is abit less swollen, but she is still being observed at the vets overnight

Caroline is a lovely lady. She has Humphrey the cat with the blood diseases not expected to last long, but is still doing well. She also had Lilly the puss who had the eye tumour. Indeed Caroline has had everything! and never says "no"

Well she might with another batch of 10 day old kittens (she might!)!! But i doubt it.

It probably was Caroline. She is very kind & caring. As well as fostering, she hosts meetings and helps Sharon with admin etc. The cat she had in her pen the other week (can't remember his name) she tried to bring indoors to make him more comfortable and have some company. She is also having a run added to her pen to give them more space  ;D

Awwww, poor Gremlin. :( At least with Caroline, regardless of how much time she has she'll know genuine affection.

Not good news Sharon. If the worst comes to the worst, Gremlin couldn't be in a better place than with Caroline & family- especially if she is a sociable puss - poor little lamb  :(

Gremlin is staying over night at the vets and being assessed. However, vets are not sure what is wrong.. But doing any internal operation is abit dangerous and could lead to nerve damage apparently.. So they are not too optimistic of the outcome...

Gremlin is on medication and i spoke to the fosterer tonight and if it looks as though she has to stay on them for the rest of her life then she will be prepared to keep her going and permantely foster her for the time she has, as the condition may shorten her life span, or if we decide to have the operation to fix a problem (if it can be fixed) and the result was poor, she would stay with Caroline. Caroline is a wonderful dedicated fosterer at the moment she is hand rearing 5 10 day old kittens with two hourly feeds all day. She has also 7 cats of her own, including one terminally ill. Conker our FIV puss and two spitfire kittens in a pen, along with Stumpy2....

« Reply #1 on: October 01, 2007, 18:08:16 PM »
Thought i would post that Gremlin the little kitten who is one of the Chislet ferals seems to have a blockage internally. She is going back to the vets tomorrow for xrays and investigation.. It could be to do with a bowl that has become twisted (common in dogs but no cats). Due to her age this may be a very delicate op to fix her problem.. She is still eating okay and seems happy but her tummy is like a balloon.

Hope she will be okay.. But another expensive vet bill coming to us i feel....

Stumpy2 the older kitten with the little leg continues to do well though..
