I have a friend who breeds some super Siamese - not quite modern, but not old-style either.

what a gorgeous site ... I love the "old style" 'meses.

For fans of the "old style" you might be interested in this site as well:  http://www.oldstylesiamese.co.uk/
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

yes, that is a nice compromise between the more extreme modern ones and the older 'apple-head' The good outcomes from modern breeding have been the reduction in the crossed eyes and the loss of the tail bump which disfigured them I felt.

I like the modern siamese as long as they're not too extreme.  This is the ideal shape to me

Not sure whether that would be classed as modern or traditional.

There is also a site for the old style Siamese.  They are lovely and they don't breed them with ear halfway down their heads.

they are gorgeous cats - they don't look like aliens which, sadly, a lot of modern siamese do. The extreme breeding leads to impaired breathing (narrow noses) which will have a similar effect to the sufferings of poor old mango, but due to boney passages being narrow rather than noses being too flat. The end result is the same. the animal can not breath effectively and so is prone to illness and early death

If she does everything she says she does she sounds an excellent breeder  ;D

I know very little about pedigrees and don't know the difference between the 2 types. I read that she breeds for health and temperament rather than extreme looks which is highly commendable  ;D

She says some extreme types a prone to various illnesses and don't live as long  :( - People who breed like that are obviously not genuine animal lovers whatever they might say.

Exactly. Health and temperament are the most important 2 things.

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

I much prefer the look of the old Siamese to the new ones.
